i'm a first timer.... why be careful? a few other people have said the same thing. whats the matter?
because people act fucking crazy there and seriously get out of control. the last time i went, people were throwing full bottles of beer up in the air in the middle of a packed 7th avenue trying to get them to land on peoples heads.
i would highly recomend not taking your own car if you can avoid it also.
im actually taking the wifeys suv and taking the shuttle from the fairgrounds.
i also heard the police are in FULL force. (which is good.) i will only be there for about 3-4 hours(10p-2a) i get my guitar hero III for my ps3 at midnite!

I haven't been in many years, but when I went I had a great time. Times have changed, though, and even when there's police everywhere alcohol brings out the worst in some people. I honestly would only go again if I was in a big group of people. It's definitely worth going to at least once. I went to Mardi Gras in New Orleans some years ago (before Katrina) and we had no problems in a group of 4 guys and 1 girl. Believe it or not I don't remember seeing even one fight and there were cops, but not on every corner. Everyone was really cool and just wanted to have fun. The playmates throwing beads at us from the balcony was fun.

i've been a few times, and its cool to experience it once. i've been like 5 times but each time it got worse and worse. when i went it was with a group of 12 to 15 people all together at a time.

I used to be addicted to car stereo. That's my past life, but I am promising myself not to get carried away with trying to mod up. You know if I made $20,000 more a year, had a daily driver car, then maybe yes. But I've been down the road of several credit cards and a bad credit score in my early 20s. It's not happening again. Nothing wrong with having fun, but you have to set limits and a budget. Otherwise CRAP happens. Or you could work at the bank and have to listen to people beg for NSF fees to be refunded when it's not a bank error. It's called don't use your debit card when you don't have the freaking money in your account!
yeah, but, the banks do get kind of out of hand with the nsf fee's. i got charged an nsf fee when i pumped gas on my card and went .40 over. got charged $35 for that .40, which is pretty F'd up
