Just wanting to know how many Tampa and surrounding people would pay $30 tech fees to race in a 4 banger class at a real drag strip? And what kind of prize money would you want? Given the fact that the higher the payout the higher the entry. Does this interest anyone else? I know a lot of people around here go to the tracks on test and tune nights, run drag slicks, and have a hell of a good time doing it. Just tring to see what kind of interest there might be for this kinda thing. Thanks guys and gals.

I'm pretty sure thousands of people do something similar to this every weekend at local tracks.

I just want to see if people are interested in this type of thing. I know everyone wants to race, but how many people will dish out real cash and make real changes to there cars to drag race. Seams like a lot of poeple hide in the shadows because of warrenty fear. So how many people would want there name said over the loud speaker to the whole crowd while they race for a real prize.
you mean like a run for the cash kinda deal ????? that would be cool... have like a $30 entry and a $200 pay out or something like that....

guess this answers my question. A few people would rather injoy the chance. I was thinking this would get more people to reply. Thanks everyone who replyed.
Edit:
I posted this same thing on TR and got about the same response!! I think it is sad that so few people are interested in this. Every weekend at local tracks mustangs and cameros race for trophies and money, but we race for nothing. People spend money on drag slicks, DR's, and lots of engine mods just to race the clock, which is cool. Not bashing that at all. Just suprised by the small response.

Yet breaking it for nothing is "well" worth it? Not tring to start anything so please do not miss understand me. I am not offering anyone to do anything different than what they allready do, except to get organized and start a drag racing class for 4 cylinders. Everyone already goes to the tracks, already runs hard, already breaks stuff. Having a class where people could race for trophies and cash they might at least get somthing to show out of there broken axle, tranny, or "insert favorite broken part here". I guess i just think differently than other people. Sorry to upset the balance.
i see what you're trying to say back n black.... if you're gonna break it why not do it trying to win something instead of a little piece of paper....
the tracks already have classes set up.... don't think they have a " 4 cylinder class" though....
From the 1/4 mile tracks i have talked with there is no 4 cylinder class's. Now Lake land 1/8 Miles has two 4 cylinder class's 7.5 & slower, and 7.49 & faster. But that is just an 1/8 mile. If you go to http://www.bradentonmotorsports.com/ You will see that there is no 4 cylinder class's so if you want to run competitvely you have to be in a different class. Now I am not saying that the right SRT-4 couldn't compete with the cars in sportsman, but you sure couldn't run pro, and the cost to just be competitive with blown big blocks would be huge. Guess you could enter Jr Dragster and kick some tail. lol I think they only offer 2 car class's at BMP and they are sportsman, and Sp/Pro. The differences being, SP/Pro is 13.5 & faster- electronics, and Sportsman is, all run-foot brake-no electronics. But this is just the web site info. Not sure of any other requirments. But i am looking into it.
I have raced at Lakeland track a couple times. They do everything they can to discourage front wheel drive cars. They won't let you do a burnout in the water even if you have drag slicks. They let ricers with rear drive do all burnouts they want. Lakeland is close to me friends with rear wheel drive cars ask me to go with them but very time its discouraging.
Up here in the North we have a series that is 6 events long and covers the summer. (1 event a month) It is called Sport compacts VS domestics. It is always a good time. The domestics have to have DOT tires, Mufflers, No tubs, Lic. plate, Insurance, and a few other little things. Sport compact is wide open, well no delay box. But they run the sport compact against the sport compact in a bracket race, and the same for domestics. Then the 2 winners face off in the finals. Plus they run a "Frantic 4" which means they take the four fastest cars from each side and they race heads up till they have a winner and then the sport compact and the domestic run for the win. The frantic 4 is run heads up on a Pro tree.
These events are awsome, and on a good night we get as many as 15 to 20 srt's there. Some of you may have seen the stage3 PVO car run at the drag strip against me. That was at one of these events. Domestic tuners come out also to play.
The best part is all the V8 cars have mufflers! So it's not just all crazy loud all night long. Don't get me wrong I like the sound of a good running V8 but it gets old.
