Jesus, whatever you do just try to get the points taken off. If you get the points taken off insurance won't find out. Take the course get the points off and reduce ticket or fight it. Good Luck!
Knock on wood, I've gotten many pulled over many times (usually no more than 3 a year though) and I've had:
- verbal or written warnings
- tickets for other than what I actually did (lesser offenses)
- speeding tickets reduced by 10 or more mph/$100 or more
My most recent experience:
There is a sort-of back road near where I work. I did a quick pull while datalogging, then stopped at the redlight at the end of the road. I'm sitting there looking at the datalog, until the light turns green. I look up and there's a police car right next to my door (pointed at me) and as soon as I take off he turns on the lights and tells me to pull over, in the middle of an intersection. I pull over on the side of the road after I get through the intersection. He comes up visibly "on fire".
He asks me where I'm headed so fast. I tell him I'm just headed to taco bell from work to grab some lunch, then heading right back. He tells me that I tried to turn "his" road into a race track and now I have to deal with him. I tell him I'm sorry, I know I shouldn't have punched it there, I just got the itch after being shut in the office for so long. Lots of "yes/no sir" later...
He came back with an exhaust ticket.

You are so funny, remember I work for insurance also.
Yea, it all depends on how you talk to the cop. I got pulled over one night while leaving work, wasn't doing anything wrong, just cruising home after a long day at work. I get pulled over. Keys go on the dash, got my license, registration and insurance card in my lap, put my hands out the window. Just acted calm, and collected.
He came back, told me that he pulled me over for a burnt out license plate bulb; which I knew wasn't burnt out. He ended up giving me a verbal warning, and telling me that having my hands out the window the whole time put him at ease since he knew I wasn't messing around inside my car.
Ended up getting into a conversation about motorcycles and what we used to ride after he gave me the warning. He was cool, it just depends on how you act towards them.
hey man trust me take to court and plede not guilty my g/f's uncle is a cop and i asked him about it and he said that you are going to win

Thank you everyone for the opinions and advice! As much as I want to quote everyone to reply to each post I would be here forever doing so lol.
I was calm the whole time and polite. I was stuffed with food so all I wanted to do was go home and go to sleep lol. Everything out of my mouth was "Yes Sir, No Sir".
Majority here and outside of the forums, at work... at my wife's job, etc. is saying to fight it and go to court. The more and more I'm leaning towards that route. Now its just a matter how long should I wait to contact them to say I want to set a court date. Got 30 days to pay the ticket.
My driving record has been clean for about 6 yrs now.
Yeah I was thinking of waiting it out a little bit. Because really right now I'm weighing in options and its more leaning towards going to court and fighting it. As no where in the statue he wrote on the ticket falls into what he wrote in about a speed limit sign and "very high rate of speed". It talks about traffic control devices and the sub section he listed on the ticket has nothing to do with what he wrote either. Nor anywhere in that statue for that matter.
I have a witness which was my wife as she was with me at the time. If I go to court, she will be there with me. Right now I just finished researching the statue listed on the ticket and I will probably pursue on a way to fight this ticket.
Just remember, it's not feelings but facts that stand up in court. Doesn't sound like he has any facts. Sounds like he is trying to scare you. Do your research on the internet and be prepared. There are plenty of web sites dedicated to giving you the correct language to use to get out of a ticket. You can even print out the pages and read them in court. If ever there was a ticket worth fighting and winning (it is irrelevant how fast you were going) this is it. Good luck.

Did you start getting the lawyer solicitation in the mail yet? I suggest calling one of the local lawyers right away.
Not yet Jason. Its too soon. But I bet I will starting Monday getting stuff in the mail. If I go to court I will not have a lawyer, Cheryl will be with me as a witness and currently I am collecting proof.
