hi all you Florida Peeps
I have always wanted to move to Florida, I have been there 6 times and I never want to leave. I have been looking at realestate on line, and I can't beleve the houses are so cheap there the cost is about 3 times cheaper
than Masachusettes. I was just wondering what is the minimum wage in Florida? How is the econimy doing? It sucks here, I am now working contract jobs and I have been looking for a fulltime job for 8 months. Taxachuettes blows. gas prices are going up and apartment rent is at the minimum $1000 per month if you are lucky! gas is now $2.25!
Any way If any one could chime in with some info, thanks. buy the way how is the weather down there I bet it was about 80deg there. it was about 60deg here.
As with any area there are more and less expensive areas. Northern Florida seems to be less expensive on average. Right now i'm in Boca Raton and prices for everything are pretty ridiculous. Economy is good, the population keeps growing. Gas is $2.40 down here so consider yourself lucky. Rent all depends but for a shitty 3 bedroom apt. I was paying damn near 1400 w/o utilities. And no it wasn't 80 today it was 85
Theres barely any taxes, second, the gas is about the same or getting there, its about 2.19 at the most here. and lets see, the apartments are cheap here. if you wanted you could have a one bedroom apartment for $450 a month right down the street from me and they are duplexes. For Really nice apartments it would be between $600-800 a month. And contractor jobs here are sweet. My buddy works part time and makes $12 an hour.

I recommend Northeast Florida. Economy is booming (practically recession-proof, most all of Florida is), lots of jobs, probably the lowest living costs in the entire state. Our beaches aren't real crowded, not like Miami's anyway. Houses are pretty cheap compared to more southern areas of the state. Disney's a 2-hour drive away.
Mininmum wage is federally set.
What exactly do you do for a living? What kind of contract labor? Lots of construction in this area.
Oh, and no state income tax.
Weather on this day, October 14, was mid 80s, clear and sunny.
Florida women are gorgeous. 'nuf said.
i have a house in melbourne, relatively cheap to live there, but real estate is rising along with the population in my development...the problem with living down there for good is the pay/wages/and lack of jobs..dont get me wrong i love it down there..its just that all the money is in the tri-state area, thats whats holding me back..
Tampa is nice. Same weather as everyone else that posted. Little over an hour from the Orlando/Disney area, 1/2 hour from Clearwater Beach, we have Busch Gardens and Adventure Island, Ybor City if your in to that scene and most importantly, (2) 1/8 mile tracks and (1) 1/4 mile track within a 1 hour drive. Plenty of jobs around. I own a 3/1 House that cost me 97,000 in 2003 in a quiet neighborhood from the 60's. Electric is around $250 at the worst and half that during the next few months so it's pretty cheap to live here. Property taxes aren't bad either. Just be ready for some thunderstorms like you've NEVER seen before. In the summer before the afternoon storm it's about 94 degrees with 98% humidity. The gas here is right around the $2.10 for 93 octane.
im in tampa...im moving into a 1 bedroom apt but its really nice paying 520 a month (everything included) gas varys where you go avg. is about 2.10-2.19 i love it and i wouldnt leave florida for anything
Friend of mine lives a 5 min walk from south beach. She pays, i think, $700/mo for a 1 bed apt. Oh ya, ever go to south beach? Its not too crowded. Public beach and topless women that dont care.
