I drove it today and it looked pretty decent. It had its share of issues though. It only boosted 5psi no matter what gear and the shifter just didn't feel right. Hope you guys might be able to help me out on its background. Thanks!

That is a terrible price. When I bought mine like 7 months ago the same thing happened boosting 5 PSI, the issue was stock wga and no vacum lines, lucky them I didn't know anything about cars and bought it, also it had 53k miles on it and I got it for 10k, so to me that deal seems terrible. Especially in the conditions you are describing the car in.

you should go back and explain to them what the car should be boosting at and problems that you know of right off the bat...and I would suggest taking a really knowledgeable person with you...I can try to take a look at it when I come to town on Friday night if I get there early enough, but no guarantees I will be able to notice too much...I can spot some little things though...what kind of exhaust does it have, looks larger than stock...
and did the thing have a shift knob when you drove it????

Cant forget the missing climate control knobs as well

LOL It looks like whoever traded it in left it pretty ragged. The dealer did replace all the missing knobs, including the shifter Thanks StixRedSRT for the offer but I've been around the SRT block a time or two. I've done a stage 3 install among tons of other stuff so I have a pretty good idea of what I'm looking at. The exhaust was 3" from the resonator back. There was a logo on the side of the tips that I didn't recognize. The shifter had been modified for sure. Under the hood everything looked pretty stock except for the intake, which was a blue short ram. Motor mounts, WGA, turbo, ECU and plug wires were stock. It has a hardpipe with a blowoff valve. It didn't make much noise though since it was only boosting 5psi.
I tried telling the sales guy that something was wrong with the car and he assured me their master mechanics had checked it out thoroughly The trunk was lined with dynamat and it looks like it had an aftermarket stereo at some point... there were tweeters in the A pillars. The inside was surprisingly clean, especially the Viper seats. I only had 22k on mine when I traded it for the Vette and they didn't look this good... and I BABIED them! The only thing that left me scratching my head was a dirty headliner. I mentioned that to the sales guy too and he said it was probably from sitting out on the lot in the sun Anyway, the car had two previous owners and I told the dealer they'd have to come down a lot before I'd even consider buying it. We'll see.

I always laugh when I see this. It means that the previous owner had an aftermarket WGA and didn't put the stock lines back on with the stock WGA. The stock WGA only has a 4psi spring, so it needs the stock solenoid lines (or an MBC, although I wouldn't recommend that) to go higher. Easily fixable though, even with regular vac hose.

Ah haaaa... Now that you mention it, the WGA only having a 4psi spring does sound familiar now. Unfortunately for me, vacuum lines were never my thing. I guess this is actually a good thing since I can use it as a barganing chip if I do buy the car... besides, I'd slap an AGP WGA on it anyway.
