Default Cutting slotted and drilled rotor question...

I currently have to get my front rotors cut or turned. I have no idea where to go. I am about 30 miles north of Tampa/St. Pete and have tried all of the brake shops here. Can anyone suggest someone?

I wouldn't resurface a drilled or slotted rotor at my shop. I don't know if other shops do it, but the general idea is that you don't cut drilled or slotted rotors and just replace them instead.

why dont you just get some coarse sand paper, and deglaze them?
Do it until you cant see yourself in them at all.

cut > sandpaper

dont mess around with a brake system, get new rotors and call it a day.

do they pulsate when you brake? if not i wouldnt worry about them. you only cut rotors when they are warped. so unless you feel a pulsatoin when you brake then i would worry about what to do.

you cant cut them because it will bust the tip on the lathe. Your outta gas man. It eather a new set or back to stockers for you.
BTW, did you notice an improvement in your breaking over the stock rotors?

i bet you those "cross-drilled" rotors offer no significant stopping performance over the stockers other than the cosmetic upgrade...

stock rotors and pads are great for the street.

Big time! They have saved my ass a few times when people in front of me stop suddenly.
They are pulsating pretty hard when I go to stop.

Very wrong. Going from stock to cross drilled/Hawk HS pads is like going stock to Stage 3. Its that much of a difference.

We were talking about a rotor upgrade only not pads...

i can see at an autocross event being a great upgrade with a rotor/pad combo...

but for the street...? stockers are just fine and they have great fade resistance as well...

yes cut would be better than sandpaper, but in this case you cant cut, think about whats going on, all that needs to be done is make a non-directional surface so the new pads will wear in properly, this can be acheived with sandpaper.
