Default So my car got fixed, but...

Ok, so the insurance company fixed my car, but the paint doesn't match because of old paint vs new paint. How can I get them to fix this? They say that they won't blend black and that they only fix the damaged panels. Basically they say I am shit out of luck and to make everything else match it would have to come out of my pocket. Anyone know how to deal with this? (except for the obvious shotgun and a shovel) Please help me out here. I am really pissed and I don't know what to do. I tried going up the ladder but they don't budge... It's BS that they won't put time into it to make it match JUST BECAUSE IT'S BLACK.

I am looking for them to either polish the hood and other fender, or blend the hood and fender. Any help would be appreciated.

The only way to fix this is to repaint the whole car. When you paint just the panels, the paint shop wont garuantee that the colors will match. Just call the insurance and say that you are not satisfied with the repair work. They'll have to re-do it. Reason for this is that the insurance is required to return the car to its orginal state prior to the accident if they decide to fix it. Call your adjuster and tell him that you are NOT satifisfied and that your car looks like a rainbow. They'll fix it.

what he said... i have black too but the shop up here i talked to said that they would blend it and buff the rest of the car for me. i would definately talk to the insurance place and tell them that they were supposed to paint the whole car due to the fact that its black and it cant be blended and they were supposed to paint the whole thing in the first place

Tried this. They refuse to paint the whole car. I am considering taking legal action. It's some serious bullshit.

all you have to do is call the insurance company and say my car was supposed to be returned to the condition that it was in prior to the accident, and now it is in worse condition then before the accident, i want this fixed or else im going to seek legal action as suggested by my lawyer. see if they budge after that lol

The shop is a normal place for the insurance company. They are cool, I have no issues with them. They actually do business with my company on a regular basis. I am just trying to get my car to match. Faded paint or not, it matched before. I just don't like it one bit. I am getting raped here. It's total bullshit. Progressive insurance has done me right until now. Now I am really upset.

I thought about that. Once you threaten with legal action, you pretty much have to start dealing with their legal department. It's a catch 22...

i have the same insurance. i just didnt want to deal with them to fix all my shit. they are supposed repair the car. tell them that its worth less now. they depreciated the value of your car because they did a half ass job. find out what the difference in value would be between the way it was and the way it sits now with the ass backwards paint. use that legally or sue them for it.

How do I find that out? I am going through my own insurance company and not the other parties because I felt that it would be easier going through my own. Now I am getting shafted.

could be as easy as kkb.com. look up what your car would be worth and then do it again making sure you check the little box that say your paint sucks . it will tell you the differnce. its a nationwide website and would be hard to argue. at the least you will get enough difference in price to cover painting or buffing the rest of the car . its worth a shot.

goodluck matt.

makes me nervous when i take my car in to get the bumper resprayed and a new stock hood installed/painted this or next weekendd!

granted i got in an accident like 2yrs ago (a minor curb jump) and had to get a new bumper. if you stand in the sun right, you can def. see the color difference, tho its barely noticeable. and that was from a top of the line autobody shop that has that machine that "autocorrects and blends" to match your paint on your car..
