Default So, I'm leaving San Diego....

Yep....I have no choice.

I've been on shore duty for three years (almost) and it is time for me to go back to sea.....problem is, there is ZERO sea duty orders for my rate/rank in San Diego....so, I am definitely leaving the area...

November timeframe...

I have selections in for Tinker AFB in Oklahoma, Whidbey Island in Washington, Kenohei (spelling) in Hawaii, or Point Mugu California.

I'm kinda bummed, actually....of all the squadrons here in SD, I can't go to any of them.....

And the worst part......no helicopters anymore.....I have to go fixed wing...I know nothing about fixed winged aircraft...I've worked on helo's my whole career.....

Change sucks.

/rant...

*UPDATE* Pt. Mugu...here I come.

Also, congrats to any new chiefs out there

<---was @ Tinker and Whidbey...

Tinker was bad-ass, but thats cause it was my first duty station, SilverCarbonKritter is a framer that works out of 3 there.. cool guy, met him and his possie when i rolled through last fall,

also OK's cost of living is cheap, you could buy a couple house while you are there, deployments are not bad on the family life at all, maybe 3 months max then you're back again..

whidbey sux ass, takes forever to get anywhere.. i just came from there.. Moltenice is there...cool dude, as far as deployments, dunno it depends on which squadron you going to..

Dude I guess you have no friends cause i'm here and theres always shit popping off, not to mention you're down the street from malibu (PCH cruises). but you're not far at all to get into LA and thats where all the action is. The Base is small and not much going on if that what you mean by a shit hole. And my last duty station was Whidbey so i know that place (I met DJ ORTIZ at the meets in mount vernon) and it is definately not a place you wanna go unless you want tickets. If you love SOCAL then I would go to Point Mugu, like i said its not far at all. BTW im with VAW-112. hit me up if you ever come up here.

Yea they are right next to me! I know alot of people in that command. You would see my srt4 in the parking lot all lonely LOL. Theres a guy named corey that lives on base when you first come through the main gate, the first thing you see is his white stage 3r w/ cf hood , gunmetal rims etc. But yea 113 just left for cruise like in may or june so you would be straight. Their airwing is attatched to the Regan.

fixed wing aircraft aint all that bad change is good but yea it sucks at the same time. For me i've only worked commercial jets (boeing 737's and md80's to be exact) but no helo experiance which i wish i had so i could apply to the local fire service agencys or police departments to work on their choppers. Anyways enough of my rambling....goodluck with the move and change.

So you're the one I see going by VR-55 when I'm out at the smoke deck?

Corey just left on deployment a couple days after I met him. He's cool. Has the nicest engine bay I've seen for an SRT. He took me over to Highend Performance where I met Scott and another guy that Mole' didn't want to come to his meet.

Yeah, the base sucks ass, but you're not far from anything and the base housing is pretty nice. Not as nice as some of the stuff built in the last 5 years, but as of 10 years ago, you couldn't find anything nicer for housing. I lived in Camarillo(Not Housing-need 2 car garage) last time I was stationed here and loved it. I like the the fact we have world class twisties close and a south facing beach that the top surfers come on base to surf. I'm always out at the beach watching them and feeding the seagulls my lunch. Plus we have 3 road courses and drag strips within about an hour drive.

I would take OK or Pt Mugu. I have good friend who owns a wrecking yard in OK city, and wants me to help him run it. Other than that, "I" would take Mugu.

Choose your own fate.
