Officials Target Illegal Street RacersRIVERSIDE, April 24, 2006 - Authorities cited more than 50 motorists and impounded 11 vehicles at a store parking lot in Riverside where street racers are known to gather.
The four-hour crackdown began about 10 last night at a Target store at 3520 Tyler St., said Sgt. Skip Showalter of the Riverside Police Department.
About 150 cars were in the lot when Riverside police officers arrived, baked up by officers from the Ontario, Irwindale and San Diego police departments, Showalter said.
The officers contained the area, then inspected more than 80 vehicles, Showalter said.
More than 50 of the vehicles were found to have "illegal emissions," prompting officials to issue citations, Showalter said, and 11 vehicles were impounded for having identification numbers that had been tampered with or removed.
Officers cautioned those present about the dangers of illegal street racing and referred them to Southland venues where they can race legally, Showalter said.

Corona PD has a special street racing task force that has 2 undercover cars. I know that one of them is a 350z thats all tricked out on 20's, not sure what the other one is. But supposably they'll roll up on you and try and race. And if you get on it they roll up behind you and hit the lights. Thats why I dont street race in Corona or Riverside for that matter.. not worth it.. I take my aggression out on the track... Every friday!!!
