I have an 03, with a CAI on it and I have a PTP WGA in the mail. I asked the current owner what he had it set to, and he said it was spiking 20 and holding 18. This seems a little high for basically a stocker which might throw a code for over boost (I read the limit for boost is around 21psi). I'm not going to go past Stage 1 ever on this car, so I want to make sure. I'm not a huge tuner, so my modest goals for performance are below:
WGA
Stage 1
CAI
BOV
Is there anything else I need to worry about when installing this WGA?
Should I set it a bit lower (spike 18, hold 16) to make sure I don't damage the car?
What kind of gains can I expect at spiking 18 and holding 16? I'm currently holding 14psi, but I've heard our stock boost gauge is not accurate.

Thanks a ton for the help guys.

with the stage 1 you could get away with spiking 20 and holding 18. but to be on the safe side i would turn it down to spike 18 and hold 16. now if you get a check valve or a boost controller you could hold 18 more then likely.
as far as hp gains i say 20-30 hp. you'll feel the difference due to the ptb issue somewhat being solved with a aftermarket wga. just remember more boost doesnt always mean more power......

you will get more PTB (part throttle boost) with the PTP WGA.....
With the stage 1 injectors in there 17 -18 spike is all i would do and you will throw a code unless you cap the red line.
As far as adjusting the PTP WGA, what is needed to make sure I'm spiking and holding? I'm not familiar with the WGA, so is it a spring I need to get for it? Or can I manually adjust it for less boost?

The PTP WGA comes with a spring installed. All you need to do is install the WGA and then adjust the WGA rod using a 10mm and 11mm wrench. By adjusting it, you are controlling the maximum boost you will see (technically the spike).
The holding PSI seems to differ on each car based on PCM, boost leaks, etc. Unfortunately, not as controllable.
Recommendation is to do the following -
Install an accurate boost gauge (or better yet, a scan gauge)
Do a boost leak test
Install the PTP WGA
Do a few runs where you have someone watching the boost (or record using the scan gauge). Make sure you ease up to max boost just to make sure you don't spike to high.
Adjust WGA until you are happy with max boost and holding boost
If you throw a code, clear by unhooking the battery or pulling fuse, lower the boost and retry.
It will take a bunch of runs until you are probably happy.
