My brother just picked up the new Caliber this week. He has to train all his dealerships on the car. He was telling me that the transmission is pretty weird. He said that when you mash on the accelerator the car red lines at 6500 rpm and hold the whole way and doesn't have any gears. He said its kinda like driving a go cart. It has one continuious gear no more shifting. Trip out no that Sh**! Gona drive in it tomarrow I'll post feedback sometime tomarrow....
There's one at the Dodge dealer in Simi Valley. I saw it Tues for the first time. I haven't been up close too it, but I'm sure like the first production Neons, its prolly a Loaded Automatic or CVT Auto Trans car. 5 speeds will show you around spring time I'm sure and the stripper models maybe by Summertime. I don't know when we're suppose to see the SRT-4 version, but maybe closer to Oct when other cars are launched just in time for the Caliber SRT-4 to smoke them...
I've driven one.. I liked it.. It's not very fast but this version isn't meant to be fast.. The CVT tranny is funny to drive but for my dad, it will be just fine....
Got to drive it yesterday... For what it is its not bad... Just cant figure out if I would lower it on some 22's or put a 7" lift kit on it w/ some 35's... The wheel wells are huge and it has that SUV look to it. But the cool thing is that my brother did comfirm that the SRT-4 version will come electronic all wheel drive that transfers power to the rear wheels when the front slips and also a 6 speed manual transmission with 300 horses... Could be very interesting...
