Need help! broke a clip and now my clutch dont work
well just like it says i went for a lil ride and my dumbass forgot to tighten the clamp on the cold side but anyways the pipe came off and the bov i guess hit the hydraulic line and broke the little clip that connects the line into that black thing that comes out of the tranny. sorry i aint got picks and thats the best i can explain it, but does anyone know how much is this gonna run me and how long will my car be down for.
ok so i found out it is the the line that goes into the clutch master cylinder, my only question now is does anyone know if changing this is a do it yourself thing or better for a shop to do it?
Did it actually break off or did it just get pulled out? There is a roll pin that goes into the tube that goes into the master cylinder. Check that it didn't just pull out. Even if it did, figure out what is broken and buy a new one. You can fix it yourself if you know what your doing. You will need to bleed the system after replacing/fixing what you have from the sound of it. I am assuming fluid leaked out right?
yea everytime i pressed the clutch pedal in fluid would come out. and yea i know about that clip your tellin me and thats acutally the part that broke. now would i just have to replace the clip and all done? and half of the clip is inside the master cylinder
if the clip you are refering to is the roll pin that holds that tube into the master clyinder then just get a small punch and drive it out. then just replace with a new one that u can get from autozone or pep boys. just take the old one with you to make sure that you get the right size. also sometimes they have a cotter pin run through them. i havent actually messed with it on my srt but i have on other cars. some do and some dont.
alright so all i need is the clip. and yea mine had a cotter pin in it. now how am i gonna get the part of the clip that is still inside the master cylinder? i guess ill have to wait till sunlight to go look at it.
If you mean that a piece of plastic on the slave cylinder broke off, you probably need a new slave cylinder. It has to be able to hold that tube in, which holds pressure. Does this help?
You can do it! There is a clip on the side of the slave cylinder (the circled number 4 in the pic above shows it) that you need to pull on, then rotate the cylinder around and it comes right out. Get the new one, put that tube in and insert a roll pin. Add the cotter pin to keep the roll pin from coming out. Before you put the new slave back in, remove the master cylinder cap, get the slave as low as you can towards the ground so that air bubbles will escape, and push the piston of the slave in SLOWLY 10 times or until you stop seeing air bubbles in the master cylinder. You will need to keep your eye on the fluid level the whole time. Then insert the slave back into the trans and make sure it is seated correctly. Then pump the clutch 100 times. Start the car and try it! You may need to bleed the system a few more times.
The hardest part will be finding a slave cylinder quickly!
thanks a lot for the help bro. im gonna go to the dealership as soon as they open, and see if they have any and ill just go around the dodge dealerships in a 50 mile radius i think theres about 5 or 6. but again thanks for the help, and ill let you know wat happens
ok well i got the part for $114 and they gave me all new lines wit fluid so i dont have to bleed it. i guess pretty good deal i had to drive to sacramento to get it but fuk it having it down for only 1 day is nice. it should be done in a couple hours.
pull out the rubber boot from the slave cylinder, take a flat head screw driver pop the white clip off from the slave ( look like C clip) . and then turn it counterclockwise. it should come out. to install do the opposite way.
