pffft an AEM 'certified' tuner that has dealt w/ the srt-4? not any shops around here that id trust!
im going w/ the hydra ems prob. for that single reason since the nations 2nd largest distributor for Hydra is right here in livermore. and i hope to have turbotek (formerly IPP...the nations largest distributor as well as best srt-4 hydra tuner) help collaborate w/ the shop and set up a sick map.
you might want to check the company in livermore out. they mainly only deal w $100k+ nobles and beemers, but they do a wide range of cars and have gotten 1st place in the car&driver super car challenge, built an 800+ viper, and hold the worlds highest MR2 hp record.
they deal w/ AEM tuning as well. you're better taking it there than anywhere else.
if you want their info, let me know.
i heard your s3 20g/ems setup got beat by the local stock turbo guys out in san jo mane...whats up w/ that?

Yeah let me get some info on that shop and ill check it out.
haha about getting beat by some of the other guys, theres more to the story but i wont make any type of excuses. A couple of the stg 2 guys did beat me, i was very new to the car and never owned a stick and it wasnt running at its full potential. But i did lose so i wont deny it haha.
any A+ tuner isnt gunna be cheap in terms of EMS tuning...everything has their pluses and minuses.
im guessing itll be around 500-750 for a full LEGIT tune.
could be more, could be less.
i emailed them tonite pertaining to how much it is for a FULL pump gas tune.
i also emailed GST Motorsports. they mainly only do the typical evo/sti crowd, and highly doubt their employees really stack up to turbohoses.
when i get answers, ill relay them to you.
Hoover is the owner of Turbo Hoses R&D... Really smart guy. I talk to him every once in a while through work. As far as GST, I know they do pretty good work. One of the STi owners at my work deals with them a lot. Both good shops in my opinion. That MR2 you're talking about, I was looking for a clutch setup for it to hold the power they are making... The only place I could get to make one for em was McLoed... But it was gonna be bank. I don't think the guy wanted to pay that much for it LOL.

what set up do you have ? do you need a base map, any tuning on the ems is gona cost you some coin , for a good base map you r lookin at 1k, double that for a all out race tune from a good shop ! let me know what all your mods are ?
Where's Tex?? I know he is an AEM tuner guy....and he lives in san jose. Might be better then going to a shop.....

there you go, easy 400hp
this is tex's old car .
tex said it was 400hp but its only around 300 and 350tq. thats why the owner wasnts the car to be tuned an EMS tuner so he can get more out of the car. Tex is still on here but has moved on with a new car.

so far, they're the only shop around i can really trust.
their list of accomplished cars is quite a feat.
i also learned they tune AEM as well as the hydra.
shoot me a pm of when you exactly plan on tuning...or the time frame.
i plan on getting an EMS after i get my car fixed.
it'd be nice if we got a discount if we both got dyno tuned during the same day.
Hoover Chan is a good guy.
I've dynoed a couple of times at TurboHoses.
Their Dynojet is a a drive-up-on affair a bit like a DynoDynamics.
Take alot longer to set it up than the in-floor unit at Modacar.
I also got my custom Mopar/MagnaFlow exhaust fabricated by TurboHoses - awesome welds by a true artist (forgot his name).
This is the place to go for a custom titanium exhaust, not doubt.
That red MR2 they have is an awesome piece of customization.
Expensive, but you get what you pay for.
What happened to the Stand Alone that ModaCar was going to do?
I remember last spring Casey telling me they bought a red SRT-4 just for learning how to tune a $900 Stand Alone they were planning.
May want to check with him about that...could be another option if thay are still doing that.

i don't think it went through. they sold the srt-4 already
yep, the srt is gone, so im sure the EMS is out the window.
i got pretty much the hydra EMS at the tip of my fingers for 1300 for the module/3bar map sensor/wideband. i just gotta pay off my engine build.
or i might go run the AEM ems/non uego and get the mopar 3bar map sensor. but ill also need to get a new 02 sensor. all of which will cost me close to $1k more than the hydra i can pick up from a member on here.
i reallly like the Hydra's "autotune" feature that i have not yet seen is an option for the AEM. never having to tune again (as long as its conservative. it compensates for all weather/elevation changes ), so when the time comes in about 2months, ill ultimately decide. its nice to know there are two ace tuners w/in 15miles of my house that can tune both tho.
Full Function can tune either or, as well as Turbo Hoses. Full function has already had hands on experience w/ SRT-4s and ems' (julius717s built ran very good for the limited 12psi at that point of time), so i might take it to them.
and considering Full Function has a flat rate for $600 for one tune, or $800 for 2 (1 pump, 1 race) it looks like ill take my car there. but im still wait to hear back from Hoover@turbohoses.
oh, and i ran by GST Motorsports today to talked to mike (the owner) about tuning since they offer hydra/AEM ems services at their shop, and he wouldnt even consider it, and made up some BS excuses. even offering to leave the car there for 2-3days. i guess some shops arent willing to expand.
goodies speed shop, originally speed merchant. first shop in the state of california to be AEM certified.

christian, aem has an autotune fuel feature. it just happens to be more of a headache than doing it yourself. you can get the fueling close in 20min, the autotune requires more time.
full function did pretty well on julius' car, but ask eddie with teh gto(who use to have the yellow) about how well they tuned the red 60trim car
