DAMN that is high. i get 110 leaded for $5.99 a gal.
I was at the last track event at Fontana and the price for race gas has really gone up over the last couple years. I guess that's to be expected considering the price of pump premium is edging closer to what I used to pay for 76's old Cool Blue 100-octane at the pump.
With that said I'd also remind everyone that most of the AutoZone's around the area still carry the NOS Racing Formula "octane booster". Usually runs around $9-10 and is one of the few that actually has a large amount of MMT (like the Torco Accelerator) that can suppress knock efficiently (just make sure it's the "racing" formula one and not one of their less expensive products). It's good enough on my car with the stock turbo nearly max'd out to hold S2's high-octane mode with up to about three quarters of a tank fuel. That works out to about a $1 per gallon extra. The MMT can foul plugs up faster if you use it in high quantities all the time but with the plug change interval most SRT-4 owners run you shouldn't have any issues with that. It's also safer for the O2 sensor and cat than running leaded race gas.
