I have to admit...after the initial "where the hell am I?" trying to drive on the
LA freeway system, I actually enjoyed my time spent in LA.
I cruised through Hollywood on Sunset and Hollywood drive... spent a little
time rolling through Beverly Hills, and even hit a few restaurants and bars.
By the time I was ready to head home, I had had a really good time. Weather
was weird. A few days it was hazy and really cloudy, but on the last day, the
sun broke through and it was beautiful.
I was a little perturbed by a few things though and I thought I would share.
1) EIGHT fucking dollars for a beer is a little outrageous. When the bartender
put my beer down and said "eight"... my reaction was... "dollars?!" She retorted
with, "Hey, this is LA." My response was, "do I at least get to see your tits?"
Heh, she didn't show them to me.
2) In Hollywood you are either filthy fucking rich, or you are homeless. There
wasn't really any in between. It was a lot dirtier than I expected too.
3) What is with the bars that serve nothing but imported beer? Weird.
4) I was expecting to be blown away with the California women but I have to
admit, I was a little disappointed. So far, the big winner for women seems to
be CANADA.
5) If you greet someone on the street with a "Hey, how are you doing?" in
passing you get one of two looks... they either look at you like you have 3
heads, or they look at you like...why the fuck is this guy talking to me? Do I
know him? Should I respond? Why is he saying that? Does he really want to
know? Heh. I enjoyed that so much I started doing it EVERYWHERE.
Anyway, just wanted to share my experience.

Were you out here for business? Hollywood is a strange place like you said, either filthy rich or slumming. It's strange seeing Porsche GT's drive by while some dude from the Geico commercials is peeing on the street.
Saying hi to someone on the street here is probably like having an "ANTI-NRA" sticker on your car in TX.

Sorry to hear you spent a week in Los Angeles. I will never understand why they call it city of angels when everyone acts like devil's. It's not a great place to be unless you are mexican or foreign. Hope the memory of it will leave your mind real soon...Good Luck!
