Default CF Weight?

How much does the stock hood/trunk weigh?? I got the CF Hood and Trunk and damn what a difference!!! How much does this deduction in weight do for me in the 1/4 mile, etc?

Well, now this is just an educated guess, mind you, but I'd say minimum two seconds reduction.

Just Kidding. The stock hood weighs 30 lbs. Completely removing it equals ~ .033 second reduction off your E.T. Replacing it with a lighter (9 pounds) carbon fiber version helps you even less. But just think, you'll be the coolest kid on your block!

I'm working off the assumption that for every 100 lbs removed, you shave off approximately one tenth from your ET.

stock hood weighs somehwere around 40-50 lbs. CF hood is light enough for me lift over my head with ease. I would say at most 10. At least it feels like it. Def a big weight difference.

No, it still weighs 30 lbs. Carbon Fiber hoods weigh between 9 and 18 lbs.

Bingo! I have a deep-seated fear of fiery death.

Also - If you're going to go the carbon fiber door route, you would probably need to replace the structural rigidity the stock door provides. Which means that your cf doors aren't really saving as much weight as you think, and they're also exposing your skinny ass to the elements. Your choice!

No, I don't mind at all. Although, you're referring to the logic of a company that tells us that our stock wing is functional, yet takes it off their project car. Hmmm.

Carbon fiber is very strong, and has low density (weighs less). But carbon fiber's strength is (generally) strong with shearing but not compression. Meaning it won't tear easily, but it may not hold up well in an impact. You can use carbon fiber doors with high-strength aluminum side impact bars, but that's an awful lot of work for a minimum weight reduction. Although, that's my opinion, of course. But this is why I think CF is great for the track, but not very safe for daily driving. Sure, you might not die in a flaming wreck, but why risk it?

Although NASA uses carbon fiber extensively, they also do do at NASA prices.
