Default Anyone in socal looking for a trans shop > My review

I was having some engagement/disengagement issues with my clutch/trans so I went to a few shops locally to shop around. None of them wanted to hear my diagnosis based on knowledge of the car and reading the forums. They basically treated me like some dumb kid and had an idea of what they wanted to do regardless of what I said. Most of them wanted 1200+ for the labor plus parts or wasn't comfortable with performace parts.

After speaking with Adam at ST motorsports and Turbocruiser13 I decided to go with his tranny guru at. Larrystransmission.com

I bought an 04 lsd transmission from a local a few months back to cut down my downtime. The seller told me it had problems popping out of 3rd gear during downshifts so I Iook it to them to rebuild it.

Larry's Offered free inspection (which includes reassembly & re installation if it was in the car) They took it apart and showed me the syncro mesh material was completely gone. Also my pivot for the tob fork was destroyed. They charged me 350$ for the labor to change it out and I purchased an optional rebuild kit.

One of my stipulations was that I wanted to supply all of my own parts. So I decided while they were in there I would go with an agp shift selector, rage billet 3/4 fork, Pwerks 3/4 clip, Ptp cryo tob fork, South bend clutch, and a fidanza flywheel. On top of all that I needed a 3/4 syncro, and a 3rd gear.

They charged me an additional 350 to Install it in my car with the new clutch.

They had everything installed In a couple days and so far so good I like this clutch combo alot.

Larry's transmissions FTMFW!

Nice. Glad to hear somebody isn't out there to rob people. FYI - the gearset can be changed with the trans still in the vehicle if you're not replacing the clutch.

I decided to go with a new clutch because if the mods I have. My stock clutch never slipped once but the car feels much stronger now. I was definitely loosing some power somewhere in the drivetrain. The guys there are cool as shit and a few of them have modified cars.

3k..

But that was my choice I wanted performance parts. It could have been only 600-700 If I had them just replace worn parts and have the tranny installed elsewhere I choose to do a full rebuild and get performance part too. The labor was 350 for the tear down and reassembly of the trans. 400 for the rebuild kit. And 350 for the trans/clutch install the rest was all parts I replaced EVERYTHING.
