Noob to cams/pulleys.... is there any tuning involved? or is it just swap out the old gear for the new one and get more power?

For the cam gears there is tuning involved in order to see power gains. Either one (intake only) or both of the cam gears are replaced and timing is either added or taken away in various combinations. As far as pulleys go they are a direct bolt on part that will yeild small, but noticeable power gains. Depending on the type of pulley (underdrive or simply just a lightened pulley) you will see different gains. Underdrive pulleys are less desireable as some of them tend to slow down other motor driven acces. like alternators and P/S pumps. The P/S may not be affected that much but the alternator will not supply the same amperage as it did with a stock diameter pulley. Lightened pulley sets are the way to go as they accomplish the same thing as an underdrive (removing parasitic drag from the crankshaft), but without the above mentioned cons.
