Default You think jackstands are always safe?

Think again. I had just placed my '91 Caravan on the jacking point bracket, removed the floor jack, and CRUNCH! The van dropped to the driveway (jacking point failed) about a minute later. Good thing I wasn't under the thing with the wheel off. I felt a little freaked out. I have an eight year old boy just inside the house who needs me.
Use caution and ensure the integrity of the vehicles jacking point structure.

Ditto

Not to sound like a dick or anything like that. But it looks like the rust on your car was the reason why it gave out. my 2 cents

Yeah I have brilliantly concluded that the rust was the cause. I did not plan on crawling underneath. When I do I always keep the floor jack under as well. My friend responded to my email with:

My deepest sympathy goes to you and your family.
Cancer is a terrible thing. My advice is to move from
the midwest to avoid further deterioration of other
unibody loved ones.

I am glad I do not have to worry about salt on the road down here.

I use jackstands with the jack...so there is always weight distributed amongst three points on the car.
