Default wrx input-not a flame thread

I've had my srt for close to a year and like the car.Located here in montreal-quebec this past weekend we got 2 feet of snow and i have winter tires on the car but my intercooler took a wicked beating,as well the yearly cost to plate a car is going up from$255 that right$255 a year to $305 in a few months. That being said a second car is out of the budget.Wrx performs excellent in the snow, dont have the intercoller worries.I was curious on other thoughts of getting one .The car will remain stock just like my srt-4 as it is plenty of power for me.Last week while at the dealercship i spoke to a fellow srt4 owner who put a metal plate in front of his intercooler to solve this problem only to be on the highway and a larger piece of ice flew off the top of truck and sliced right threw the metal and put a large hole all the way threw his intercooler and on top of that i told me by blocking off the incoming air the car performed horribly in daily driving conditions.

To me, it really sounds like you already answered your own question! I would say go for it. If you get the wrx, no problem having those intercooler worries and better snow traction.

Sounds like a WRX would be good for you especially in your weather.

its sad to see a srt-4 traded but bad weather and these cars don't mix. Go for the WRX, possibly the STi!!

There was a post here somewhere about a different type of grid you can put in front of the intercooler.

Actually in the Montreal region it was more like 1 foot of snow but the snowbanks created by the graders make 2 feet + easy. When it is hard packed you have to be carefull. I am sticking to my SRT. Screw the winter I will get through it.

i am from sherbrooke quebec canada but the srt is stored for winter.I bought a tempo garage an place it in i think its the best way not to scratch crash or slide in a snow bank...

Keep your srt and buy a 1000 or 2000 winter car something like a 99 neon would be in that price range

For my part i bought a 1985 jeep chorokee since then no prob at all with snow!!

in your situation i'd go with a wrx.... definately stay away from the talon tho, had a couple friends with them, and they were always fixing things.

I would definitely get a WRX, I'm almost in the same situation as you. I need something I can drive year round and want a turbo'd car. You can find low mileage 2002/2003 WRX's for 12-14k around New England-I know your in Canada, but you can still find a good deal on them.
