I was just gonna post that, what other form of racing would a driver take one of his tires off and keep going!!!!!!!!! OR have some die feet away fromthe line, have spectators push him across the line, and get a five minute penalty, just because it WAS the specators

no doubt....great action!!! Sucks that Petter got hammered with that 5 minute penalty just cuz some dumbass photogs helped push him. Seems like the big guys are dropping like flies on this one.

WRC is the shiznitz! The penalty that Solberg got was more than fair. Nobody is allowed to push the cars at that point, unless they're trying to help them get back on the road. Since he was already on the road, that was "illegal", and he could have been thrown out of the rally.

If he hadn't gotten the 5 minute penalty, he would have walked away from the rest of the field! He was unstoppable on the last 2 days. Looks like it'll be another close rally season.

i like the ending, NeonDan pointed it out to me since i dont have cable and was visiting.
the announcer said:

"this concludes the first ever rally in Mexico, it keeps getting closer and closer to the US and its only a matter of time before it crosses the border. Lets keep praying, maybe next year we'll get our first "

I think they said that he was allowed to be pushed.....but only by the crew or something.......no spectators, etc. Kinda sucks because it looked like photographers and stuff were just running up and helping without being asked so he may not have even known who was pushing back there. Oh well, the Subaru looked strong as hell......I think it's gonna be between Petter and Marko again this year with Loeb having a real shot too.

The big surprise for me is how bad those 207's are falling apart. A few years ago when the 206's were new and Marcus won the championship those things were bulletproof. This power steering issue made Marcus look like he was gonna blow a gasket

This rally had great coverage and seemed to have better camera work and more of that cool computerized stuff, which is sometimes a weakness of rally coverage, compared to say Neckcar or some of the others.
On another note, Solberg did dominate in the new Impreza WRC 04. How frustrating to have that great performance shadowed by that penalty. In the end people only really notice who got the big points. Hopefully he can put together a few more dominating rallies like this one and win it all again.
Could the new Impreza be that good, or was it just a championship quality, no stress rally for Solberg?

Solberg is one of those people that, when the chips are down he just drives FLAT OUT. What was there to loose? Impressive. I can't believe that the Mitsu's are having so many problems and Marcus was PISSED, but I would be too.
