Default What is wrong with American Journalism

(My ranting on several boards of falsity in regards of aiding Toyota in selling cars here in the US)....posted at Allpar since DaimlerChrysler corporate views the board on a daily basis.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Being informed by an insider that frequents this board and others, I would never of seen this being painted as falsity in reporting wrong numbers to the world.

After some closer inspection of numerous automotive journalist that produce articles pertaining for April 2005 U.S Automobiles market sales, I have done my own research and found either they are blatantly dishonest or just plain ’unintelligent' when it comes using arithmetic or doing proper research.

I found this is a major problem on numerous boards and forums throughout the globe when someone is citing articles only to find it is totally inaccurate and portrays inappropriate lie. You will find some journalists are claiming Toyota Corporation is number two in America domestic sales. As a consumer, we have the same privilege or access to the Page Ranking Wire News service reports every month and easily calculate the numbers of who and what models are being sold that month, total year, and percentage gain/loss from previous year.

When you view Toyota reports, it seems that there own financial skewing or methodology it not like other manufacture. I never knew that Scion was not a separate brand line as being told since it is added to elevate the Toyota brand line. Not only that, it is a major headache to remove and recalculate the brand model sales. Worst than that, Lexus is added in the mixed and not easily too digest to see what is being sold as a brand.

When you view General Motors, Ford, Nissan, and even Chrysler (and others not mentioned), reporting methodology changes and the viewer can easily see the numbers and totals sales by brands. What is going here Toyota? If I didn’t know better, it reminds me of someone trying to either hides something or confused an onlooker as if it looks bigger than it really presents.

It seems that Chrysler Division or group as I called them, without the aid of Mercedes Benz, sold more than 124,000 over Toyota Division (comprised of Toyota and Scion), without the aid of Lexus. Even when comparing the consumers demand of the this year 2005 model luxury full-size 300 vehicle, is up by 236 percent over 2004 versus the 2005 Avalon, which is up only 83 percent over 2004 sales after a new redesign. It doesn’t take an intelligence figuring out that the 300 are leading the full-size pack seeing the demand from US consumers. Yes Edmunds! You are clearly wrong in your perception and quite frankly, totally embarrassing from well-known auto reporting agency. The perch is still there as long there is a strong demand for this vehicle.

The question is why this is happening and why isn’t the Joe consumer demanding the ‘whip

It's just like all other dishonest corp.s now days. That is how they sell stocks. Claiming to be larger than what they are, or even sometimes smaller to make people sell stocks so they can buy them back cheep.

The world is cracking up. Earthquake

Very good topic Hemi. I look around today and all i see is lies and greed. As long as a company see's profit in something it will do it and if that includes lieing and cheating people out of money then they try and cover it up. Statistics and numbers are all subjective and adjustible. I have never believed statistics because of the way statistics are written. The world is becoming a sad place to live in. Thanks for the write up Hemi.

So you are taking Lexus out of Toyota's total, but you are leaving DCX with all of its brands? That still seems like apples and oranges. I get where you are going with this, and I actually followed you until this:

The group of DCX (Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge) is being compared to Toyota (Toyota, Scion, and NO Lexus)?

No Lexus, as to no US built MB part of the DaimlerChrysler USA...Toyota as a Division, which it does includes Scion.

Both luxury brands are up to 60-80K cars sold.

Chrysler plans to add an additional 16-models for 2006. I don't see any let up and moving up to catch Ford.
