Default Warranty!

I have a question im about to buy a used 2003 srt-4...And it has 40000 miles on it...It says the basic warranty is expired and emissions is expired but the drivetrain and everything else is still there..I will be the cars 3rd owner sooo does that mean that the warranty will not be there or will it be...and also another question if i go to upgrade on the engine and such will that void the warranty...

factory warranty is only transferable once i believe, equaling 2 owners. It might not transfer to the 3rd.

here this is what is says....

Type of Coverage: Original Warranty: Estimated Remaining Coverage:
Basic 36 months or 36,000 miles Coverage expired
Drivetrain 84 months or 70,000 miles 34 months or 28,000 miles
Emissions 24 months or 24,000 miles Coverage expired
Corrosion 60 months or 100,000 miles 10 months or 58,000 miles
Transferable A $100 powertrain deductible applies after basic warranty coverage period and is transferable. Same
Roadside Assistance 84 months or 70,000 miles 34 months or 28,000 miles
Safety belt & inflatable restraint No data reported to CARFAX
Specific Components 96 months or 80,000 miles 46 months or 38,000 miles

Notes: Manufacturer covers emissions components under basic warranty. Emissions coverage may vary by state. Refer to owners manual for specific details. Transferable to second owner only. Transfer fee may apply based on build date. Corrosion coverage applies to outer panels. Inner panels are covered un corrosion for 3 years only. Roadside assistance includes towing for 7 years or 70,000 miles. Wear items are covered for 1 year or 12,000 miles. A $100 powertrain deductible applies after basic warranty coverage period and is transferable.

So i think its transferable. Just not the emissions components is not that can only go through 2 owners...I dont kno im confused...tell me what you guys think.

They will just run the last 8 digits of your vin. Mine transfered over. The first dealership tried telling me that the used car place I got it from counted as an owner. I called another and they ran the vin. It transfered over for $150 bucks.

Who did you have to pay the dealership or the used car place...? Or did you pay when you had a problem and took it back to the dealership?

I bought it off a used car dealership then took it to Dave Dennis Dodge. A local dealership around here. They transfered over my powertrain warranty. Its a drive train warranty. It covers pretty much whatever they say it does. After reading post where guys got screwed over. It should be in your book. Everything minus clutch. Also, mods pretty much fugg people over too. So just find a solid dealership that treats you well. I just brought in my temp tag registration and they took care of the rest.
