Volvo T6 hand-built hotrod

Volvo begins its press release for the T6 by asking, “Has Volvo gone mad?” Good question. The T6 is a hand-built hotrod based on Volvo mechanicals and featuring a twin-turbocharged 2.9L inline six-cylinder engine. Leif Tufvesson, a former Volvo employee, built the hotroad entirely in his own garage using his own tools. The T6 is actually considered mid-engine since the motor is located directly behind the seats, and the rear decklid will actually lift up to allow cool air to reach the engine when a certain temperature inside the compartment has been reached. The rear wheels of the T6 are fed all that power through a 5-speed Geartronic transmission. Most of the components for the T6 were lifted from the S80, C70 and S60. Hopefully Volvo pitched in and Lief didn’t have to lift them all from a salvage yard.
Enjoy many more pics including some of the build up and a full press release after the jump.
