Any body have any data on this thing? I saw it on the road and it definitely looked like a Vibe GT on steroids. But a middle-aged woman was driving it...
15.4 is pretty quick for as little power, and as relatively heavy as those cars are. The Vibe GT is essentially the same car as a Toyota Matrix XR-S, which has the Celica GT-S powertrain.
My mom has a Matrix with the standard 135hp mill (XR model) and it's gutless. I can't imagine and extra 45 hp (all way up around 7800rpm) would make the car a screamer. Of course, after driving my S3R SRT-4, most 'normal' cars feel catatonic.
I tend to doubt that ram air makes 10hp on those cars. My bike, gulping 170mph air straight into the intake tract barely picks up 10hp (it makes ~115whp with no ram air).
thats why i said it apparently makes an additional 10 more hp, however if they are using a better filter, and if the intake is actually revised I could see them picking up a few extra horses out of the ram air.
Get 'em while they last - the 170HP engine and AWD has been dropped from both the Vibe and Matrix for '07... in Canada at least anyway.
Corolla XRS is gone too.

MT Vibe's are only 2700lb...
Vibe GT's are no longer produced, they made 180hp (rated at 170), and put down about 145whp. They (like it's cousin the matrix XRS) run mid 15's stock. Shares a lot of parts with the Celica GTS.
I recently bought a 2005 base MT Vibe. They're rated at 140bhp, and dyno around 125whp, run's low 16's. They can put down about 140whp with simple bolt-ons and run high/mid 15's... Shares a LOT of parts with the Celica GT. There's is a TRD (and GM) Supercharger kit with it's own 1 year warranty that doesn't void the factory drive train warranty if installed by a GM dealership. Also brings whp to the 140 range, or you can go the Turbo route and run mid/low 14's on the stock motor... with a good tune.
I always thought the Vibe was kinda gay... it looked like a bucktoothed piece of shit. But in '05 they re-styled it to look more like the G6/Solstice front ends. Now I think they look pretty nice. It's an excellent car for a daily driver, 30mpg in the CITY!!! In a small SUVish type wagon thingy... that's allmost unheard of.
All the seats fold down and have hard plastic on the back so there's no fabric or carpet to get farked up if you're hauling something dirty... also lots of cargo tie down hook, and some neat adjustable cargo hook tracks on the rear floor, and back of the rear seats. I've taken home 12' tall trees, and a 12' roll of carpet recently (not at the same time) by opening the hatch glass. I even took home some 8' long lumber to build a hammock stand in the back yard, and could close the rear hatch. Has enough room to fit my wife & 2 kids, me and the our 100lb German Sheppard... he sits behind the rear seats, there's actually a lot of room back there, the c pillar is deceptive.
I average 33mpg combined, and to be honest, this thing is about as peppy as my Neon ACR was, at least around town. It never feels underpowered or sluggish, unless I try to race someone, but it's a damn Vibe... no one tries to race you.
Very nice interior, comfortable ride, yet it actually handles quite nicely. I got the moon roof/monsoon sound package... came with 17" alloy wheels, fog lights, and "dayglow" style gauges to boot. Not the fastest car I've owned, but certainly one of the best...

I don't think the GT-R was ever produced... probably just a body kit. There's some nice ones out there. I like this one W/out the stickers though...

Maybe the Vibe is different than the Matrix, but that honeycomb material on the door, next to the armrest will peel your skin off!!! The window sill height will drain your arm of all blood if you dare drive with your arm up there. The seats (at least for my height & build) put my legs to sleep in about an hour.
Ergos aside..... The versatility is nice, plus I managed to get 40mpg highway / 33 city when I borrowed it for a trip to Atlanta once though (my bike gets about 38mpg no matter how I ride it, for crying out loud). Being an automatic, it seems I can floor it, the slushbox downshifts but nothing happens. You'd think the speedo was stuck, but if you wait long enough, you can see some movement.
Maybe I could get her that blower for Christmas or something.......

LOL yeah... the Vibe has that same fabric and yes it's a tad on the sandpaper side of roughness. As far as the window height, the drivers' seat is height/angle adjustable, I have mine just right. But I agree the seats are kinda stiff... that's just about the only downside. That and the wimpy ass horn "meep meep!" sounds like the road runner.
But I really like the stock radio, it displays the name of the station I'm listening to (not just the number) and displays the title and artist of the songs playing. The EQ works nice, you can program cutom settings for each station on your programed list. The radio has some other cool features like a traffic button, where it'll find a staion giving traffic info for you. Or if you're in a new town out of your usual stations range you can seek by music type... and it'll find you those stations. I also like the outside temp display, in the winter it comes in handy... if I see what lookes like wet raod and it's around 32 deg, I know it's probably ice and slow down, or if it's more like 40 deg I just keep going.
I had just test drove an AT PT snuzer I mean cruiser, and figured to make a fair comparison I'd test drive an AT Vibe before the MT. The AT was just as fast, well... slow as the AT PT. Then I tested the MT Vibe and found it to be MUCH better. Didn't feel any differnt than the ACR it was to replace except at redline where the ACR's dual intake runners would kick in and give it a slight kick in the pants. However the ACR's cam made it feel weak down low, while the Vibe's VVT gives it pretty even tq delivery. Plus the idea of having a Toyota powerplant, and hell 90% of the other parts for that matter... is nice. It could use the blower though... a little extra tq would make it a very, very enjoyable car.

"H O L D....O N!!!!"
Only fools buy these 'hyped' performance vehicles where there are other force induction cars that are far better.

Huh? You lost me... The GTR was just a "prototype" shown at the 2001 SEMA, it wasn't a actual model. Plus it wasn't a F/I car, it just had a "ram air" scoop. I don't even think GM offered an apearance package to change a Vibe into a GTR, but they did have some sort of body kit... looked kind crappy though.
If Pontiac offerd a 300hp Vibe I'd take that over an SRT-4 Caliber any day... Vibe GXP FTW!!! (Soltice 2.0L T swap here I come!)
