Default Toyota discontinues Celica and MR2 after 2K5

Toyota disontinues Celica and MR2 after 2K5
I thought this was interesting...didn't see it posted before. I never liked the Celica but I think the MR2 is pretty cool.

Current Celica was one overpriced overrated mutha. $35,000 cdn for a gts, and thats before taxes and all that good stuff. Went to the dealership to check one out recently, I think the srt4 has a better quality interior, and is $28000 for comparison.
RIP Celica.....you will not be missed.

The only cool celica was the all wheel drive ALL-TRAC Celica with a turbocharged 200 hp engine. After that, the only cool part about the new celica is that its motor is in the new Lotus Elise. Good riddance to an overpriced and underpowered car.

Both of those cars sucked. The old turbo Celicas and MR2s were the best of the lot and they dumped the good motors for these newer replacements that suck my ass.

The only good thing about the new Celica is that it looked bad ass with the "action package" and it handled pretty well....Other than that it is a slow ass POS....

I have to agree. After some transformation with aftermarket stuff, they look fast.

Looks like Toyota won't have ANY sports cars now and going more for boring mainsteam cars and SUVs.

They have really been pushing their MPG value lately.

I had to laugh at that one when they were number '1' for lawsuits pending for 2003 according to DOT for the so-called high-mpg Prius. LOL

I thought that it was the Integra Type R's motor that was in the new Lotus?

The new Lotus has the Celica GT-S engine in it. From what I read it is the exact same engine with some adjustments to the computer for the extra power.
