ya i forgot to exclude that, 10mpg on the highway is unacceptable to me. I LOVE the styling tho, and would be my first choice if the gas wasny so damn bad. I forgot to mention that this will be my weekend cruiser and road trip taker.
thanks for the input.
Gas is cheap down here. Do you want to go fast, or conserve gas?
ok maybe i couldve stated that better. Its not the price of gas that gets me, its the overall consumption. Im no tree hugger, but i dont want to take what we have for granted either. Besides, 10-12 highway is just ridiculous, and you get even worse in the city.
the more i think about it, the more attractive the lightning is.

wouldnt it take fairly extensive mods to get a diesel in the 12's?
dude, get outta here with the "no truck gets good mileage" thats what i bought the neon for, this truck will not be a daily driver. I simply want something that i wont have to fill up two or three times on a 400 mile trip. Please dont take shots at me, if you dont like what i have to say then dont read it, there are plenty other threads you can use to raise your post count. Anyhow, thanks for pointing out the obvious pbsrt.

i would consider replacing a turbo on something that already has one extensive. If it could be done with a just a tuner and raising the boost and some other bolt ons that would be nice, but a new turbo is more $$$ than i want to spend just to crack 12's.
Bullydog everything as in?...chip, exhaust, intake??? what else? again if its doable with the stock turbo then good, otherwise thats too much work/$$$ for something that isnt a track truck.

well, your not really gonna get a big heavy ass truck in the 12's for cheap. remember dude, 12's is pretty fast for a DD.
for one thats why i excluded the diesel. A pullied L can dip in the 12's, and thats cheap. Thats why i was comparing to the "lightning" and wondering if there is any other truck with the same capabilities for just as cheap.
As for 12's being fast for a DD, my goat went well into the 12's when i was totally stock. I guess coming from a srt forum 12's are fast haha that was a joke, but really 12's arent really that fast compared to the technology in todays vehicles.
i must add, the diesel was suggested by another member, not me, i already knew that diesels are a handfull to make quick. Possible yes, but logical no. Again the more i see, the more i think the "L" is gonna suit my needs.
keep em coming tho, and thanks for those who have joined in

well, i was gonna call you out and say you can run my pos cammed big turbo neon any day of the week.
yes sir, i don't know where you have been, but even 13's is fast. so plz, keep the ego out. as i am trying to offer info.
might as well shut this thread down before it gets ugly, i have the info i need. From here at least.
I will say this, 13's is fast for the average car, BUT if you are talking about performance oriented vehicles 13's was so 1990. 12's are the new 13. im sorry if you dont like my ego, everyone has one. I cant help where ive come from, and where that is 12's are decent but get NO praise. 12's fast for a truck hell yea, for a car, hell no.
ruthless im not trying to start an argument, or take shot at you or anyone else for that matter. "I" just have higher expectations that 12's in a sports car, maybe if i had owned a mustang or civic, yea shoot for 12's first but you have to understand my position.
Lastly, i would be ecstatic with 12's in a truck, but then again i wouldnt be happy with anything slower either.

12s for a DD is respectable but I wouldn't say it's "fast". I've had my Lightning for 3 years and I love it. Keeping it stock until I can get something else to drive but 12s is not going to be a problem to get into reliablely with this truck. BUT...even though they are beasts they are not as bullet proof as the 03/04 Cobras and teh GT500s. Do some reading up onsvtperformance.com and TALON - Texas Area Lightning Owners North The last one is the North Texas lightning owners club.
i have a 99 lightning i love it..It'll eat a gto or vettes lunch anyday..idk if you said or not you would get one but dude if youve never been in one they truly are amazing..5.4L supercharged..and the rarity.. SVT FTW!!!
