I have a mopar stage 3 SRT-4 2005, let me start off by saying i love my car! it has 43k on it and runs great. I'm thinking about an 2004 STI w/48k and few mods. what do you guys think about the STI? and have you heard anything bad about it? all help is appreciated!
Your pretty much going from one race car to another. What do I think about the sti? All you'd be gaining is AWD, a bigger ego (whoops did I say that) and some added safety amenities. Its not like they come equipped with dual climate control, full leather interior, road side assistance, navigation, and a banging stereo. The interior is almost as basic as ours. IMO I don't think its worth it, especially if its used. I mean your going from a really fast car to a decently fast car. In order to put the sti where the stage 3 is power wise its gonna cost you a lot more. The choice is yours my friend.

how about a car that can outhandle and out stop his current srt4? brembo brakes and a tuned suspension / better interior / etc...and can be made very fast for little $. tbe and a free tune..see romraider.com ... and you'll be in 12 sec 1/4 mile territory ...the sti isn't all about straight line speed like the srt is. saying that the srt is a race car is like saying my wrx is a race car..when in fact it's not. the sti is much closer to the real deal.
op what you need to weigh out is this
can you afford it?
would it be better to keep you current srt and work on getting it paid for? currently what is your stage 3 doing track wise?
would you benefit from awd where you live?

Your right the srt is just a hyped up neon, nothing more, nothing less. I guess you should go tell the 1 lap of America guys that there not driving a race car. They should buy an sti because that's a real race car. In the right hands the srt can be made to handle awesome. Maybe not quite as good as an sti but it can still hold its own with the right driver. The interior is personal opinion. I've been in an sti before and I wasn't impressed with the interior for what it cost. I'm sure some car critics would agree. He's already in the 12s so why bother? A stage 3 is capable of beating a tuned/tbe sti even from a dig. To the op: If you love your car so much why you thinking about getting rid of it?
ya srt>sti way better bang for the buck unless you want a road course car cause if your gonna drag it get ready for transfer case work and lots of clutches $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

i say sti its a nicer interior all wheel drive. bbs rims stock. great potential. recaro interior if i am correct. crazy sound with exhaust. id get one if i could afford it. trust me youll love a sti
thinks for the input guys, i def think the sti is faster its cammed out, headers , full race exhaust, force BOV, and AEM cai..its also tuned shooting 12" flames out the exhaust, its just hard to let mine go i love the srt. people can call it a neon all day long but at the end of the day its alot more than that.it would be a close race but i can afford it i just didnt know where i would be 60k later in terms of dependability.
I love the older sti's the 99's. I tried to get one but couldn't find one that wasn't ragged out. They are great cars and in a realm of owners as the srt4, not many around and nobody buys them and leaves them stock. good luck with the choice. I say pay yours off and then buy another car so you can have both

Obviously not, but I was just pointing out that the srt can make good competition against an sti even on a road course and doesn't have horrible handling like you and so many others believe. Hell, I remember watching the Mopar sponsored srt4 rally car on tv a couple years ago and it was placing 2nd to 3rd overall in some of the events which had stis and evos, not to bad for a fwd neon.
