RT Shadow's Automotive Ramblings
I figured I'd create a thread where I just toss in my random thoughts on my vehicles, or vehicles I've seen, or whatever. I can't compete with Hemidakota (is he doing okay btw, with my own life changes in the last 2 years I've lost track?).
I pulled the SRT out of the storage unit this past weekend, tossed on what may be the last set of new KDW-2's in existence to replace the old rubber (you could see threads on one of the tires.
She's at 58,500 miles these days. In the last two years I've maybe put 5K miles on her. This is the third set of tires. The first set got me to 35K miles, and the second set, well, probably just as good a set but I kept modding... and that seems to be detrimental to tires? Who'd of thunk?
I had to toss in a new battery also, I get about 3 years out of the mopar batteries but I want to keep the car as factory as possible. Believe it or not I put the Walmart Everstart batteries in everything else I own, we have about 100 different vehicles that need batteries on our farm, and we've found that dollar for dollar, the Everstarts are top dog.
As a lot of you know, I purchased a Chevy Cruz Eco in April, and it's been really awesome so far. I wanted the stick but found a slightly used automatic with like every possible option... the previous owner had even installed window tint (would have been my first purchase if not). I average about 31 mpg, up to 40 if I'm 'trying'.
Anyways, I went right from my Cruz into the SRT-4, and I remember people years ago talking about how the SRT-4 felt like you were "sitting in a truck", and I always thought that was funny. Well, even going from the Cruz into the Neon, it is true. It took me a couple hours of driving to even feel safe going into corners again, by comparison with the lowly Cruz (which, I gotta say, handles really well for a strict 'economy car')
With a 6 and 4 year old, who will obviously only be getting bigger, I'm looking at the current crop of V6 SUV's on the market. I still really like the Jeep Grand Cherokee, just wondering if any of you have or know someone who has the V6 (newest model/engine only) and how it does MPG wise?
