Default pump gas in the 60's and 70's

What kind of octane was pump gas in the musclecar era? I have a friend with a '73 trans am and he tells me that pump gas back then had a 100+ PON rating. If thats true then I want to travel back in time.

Yeah, modern catalytic converters would pretty much barf out their innards with that old leaded gas.
