That info is not all complete. Monday GM will do the official release and then we'll know for sure. I'm afraid it's too heavy even at 3747lbs. That's probably the V6 anyway, which means the V8 will be like 3900. I hope it's not true.
you missed the memo the V6 is packing 4hp short of 300hp
296 HP, which even if that was at the wheels, won't be anything to brag about when the car weights around 3800 lbs. Buying a performance car without the performance seems pointless to me, which is why I would never own a V6 Camaro. Everything right now is speculation anyways. Until the car is in showrooms and has been tested, we'll know the real numbers.

Better than the anemic 250hp engine that the 4000lbs+ challenger is going to have.
-All of the leaked photos are of the RS model which is a performance package for the V6 Camaro.
-The RS package includes 20″ wheels, projector HID headlamps with BMW-inspired halos, tinted taillight lenses and a rear ducktail spoiler that are also found on the SS.
-The V6 cars carry 12.6-inch vented front rotors and 12.4-inch vented rear rotors with single-piston calipers. 14-inch plus Brembos are standard on the SS
-The interior has Chevrolet bowtie blue LED lighting, including the door panels.
-Multiple interior accent colors will be available including orange.
-The LS3 SS is EPA rated at 15mpg city and 23mpg highway
-The V6 Camaro is EPA rated at 18mpg city and 27mpg highway
-Limited-slip is standard on all SS Camaros and V6 models with manual transmissions
-All Camaros feature asymmetrical or staggered half-shafts in the rear suspension to quell wheel-hop, just like the new LSA CTS-V and LS9 Corvette ZR1.
-The SS features front and rear antiroll bars that are almost an inch larger in diameter than those of the V6 as well as stiffer springs and more aggressive damper settings. The suspension was tuned on Germany’s Nurburghring.
Fatty fatty fat fat. I just hope for their sake the near 3800 lb weight is for the V8. Because if not...jeez they are gonna get awfully close to the 4000 lb mark.

and you realize the V6 for both the Camaro and Mustang (and probably the same can go for Dodge camp) is what SELLS these cars and makes them the money. W/O the V6 model the sales would be abysmal. 300hp and 3750lbs should be good for a solid 14sec timeslip...which certainly isn't bad for a BASE model.

I agree. I have been waiting for this car for a long ass time. The weight isn't much of a concern for me. I'll just do this....
Not bad I must say.
With a drop and some wheels it'll clean up real nice
Yah man, throw some total shit Chip Foose crap wheels on it, 22", drop it, why stop there though, maybe toss some bag suspension in and some underside neon lights and a huge fart muffler, and really destroy it completely.

According to Oppenheiser, the new 300-horsepower 3.6-liter V6-equipped Camaro will run from zero to 60 mph in 6.1 seconds regardless of transmission choice. The V6 coupe will cover the quarter-mile in 14.5 seconds with an auto and 14.7 seconds with a manual, both at 97 mph. The brakes don't sound quite as impressive, though, as Oppenheiser said the base Camaro stops from 60 to zero mph in 132 feet.
Not surprisingly, the V8-equipped Camaro SS delivers better numbers across the board. Chevy's Camaro SS outfitted with the 422-hp 6.2-liter LS3 V8 six-speed manual hits 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and runs a 13.4-second quarter-mile at 108 mph according to Oppenheiser. Strangely enough, Oppenheiser also claims that the automatic-equipped SS Camaro, which is rated at 400 hp, runs from zero to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds and through the quarter-mile in 13.3 seconds. "We optimized the shift points," he said.
Both versions of the V8 Camaro SS pull a maximum 0.90 g on the skid pad. Four-piston Brembo brakes help stop the Camaro SS in 117 feet.

I find this incredibly hard to believe considering the Challenger runs 0-60 in 4.7 and a 1/4mi in 13.0......with 3 more hp and over 300 extra lbs. Math doesn't add up. What's the gearing comparison??? LS3 also has launch control which should improve 0-60 even more.
I'm not buying Oppenheiser.
EDIT: Found gear ratios...Challenger has 3.06 vs Camaro's 3.45
The Challengers lower gears are more aggressive, 0-60 should be even if anything. Camaro is going to absolutely rape the SRT-8 Challenger on the highway. 1/4 should be a decent race w/ the Camaro slightly ahead. I'm sure of it...Oppenheiser's times are bullshit.
That being said....both cars are the shit and both will piss on Mustang GT's which makes both OK in my book.
