SRT ‘Core’ Performance Models, First Look Video: 2013 Chicago Auto Show |
om NewsThis is a good start. Now what can be done in the weight reduction arena... Well, not a whole lot really. Not for the big ones. Barring expensive materials like carbon or aluminum, just not a lot of places you can shave weight without adding cost. Full size cars weigh, its simply a matter of being big.

I don't Think it's smart to waste the money on a dart Srt... They only sold less than 13,000 2012 darts that's not good AT ALL
I know it wasn't out for the full year

There were 25k darts sold last year, and considering it didn't start production until half-way through the year and even then in very limited quantity that's not horrible. It should have been higher, but it's still tough to sell people a 1.4l engine in a 3200lb car.

Yeah, I hear ya. It sure would be cool to get a 6.4 hemi chally in the 3600lb range, especially with the unlocked ecu's they have now.

Then hope the Barracuda is what we suspect it might be. A real Camaro/Mustang competitor.

When will you build the SRT version of the Dodge Dart, as a proper successor to the Neon SRT4?
Ralph Gilles: We're thinking about it. If it comes from SRT, it has a certain expectation. It can't be a me-too car, which is a compliment. We're very nervous to bring out anything that isn't jaw-dropping. To do jaw-dropping stuff takes time, investment, a bigger team. I'm in no rush; the platform is here to stay. We'll see. If Ford can build the ST I don't see why SRT can't build the srt4, obviously you want the SRT to perform better and that may be where the problem lies. With current EPA standards, maybe there having a hard time finding the right power train? |

Hell, if Mercedes can field a 360hp awd four banger, no reason the SRT guys cant do the same. Or at least a 320hp fwd. Hell, wouldntr be surprised if the Daimler guys didnt walk out the door with all the Stage 3 test data and used that to help develop the CLA45 AMG motor. How many other factory tested (for street usage) fours of that power level have there been?

I was pondering along the same lines.

So what's the latest on this? Sorry, I'm too lazy to read through this whole thread and I didn't want to start a new one and get flamed even more.
I've been searching like crazy on the web and haven't found anything solid as of late?

I've been searching like crazy on the web and haven't found anything solid as of late? Absolutely nothing. The R/T has been relabeled to "GT", adding fire to the rumors that the FWD SRT is going to be a slightly subdued "R/T", and there will be a $35k+ AWD SRT Dart. Dodge right now shows cars no more than 6-months away from their availability, so they're playing their cards close to their chest. A basic SRT-ize cycle on the Dart would have been done by now.
