With R Compound tires you'd be surprised what a neon can out handle, let alone in the hands of a professional rally driver.
People tend to forget the Neon's started by out handling many top cars in circuit tracks back in the mid 90's, like the Integra Typre-R and the Miatas.....let alone other cars like the M3's.......

"The Cobalt firmly grabs you and whisks you along your way instantly. It does so with authority and poise, but while slipping relatively unnoticed through traffic, never being violent, or dare I say it, frightening. When you ask the SRT-4 to take you somewhere fast, it punches you in the face, throws you over its shoulder, and runs, screaming, so quickly that its tires can barely keep up."

LOL.
OH yeah I forgot, its the Neon we're talking about, aka "Ultimate Performance Car".
Drag racing = Neon > Top Fuel Dragster
Roll racing = Neon > Single Turbo Supras, Hayabusa's
Circuit Tracks = Neon > Type R's, NSX's and M3's
Rally Racing = Neon > STi world rally championship car
I think the mentality our cars are fantastic is because of how much of a "Its just a Neon mentality" shit everyone gets from other people. I'm okay with it most of the time, but it wears thin because it is constant.
And what makes it more frustrating is people continually prove our cars can compete with solid respected names in just about every degree and we still get shit on for just being a Neon.
Is it now? I remember selling these cars to people to compete in showroom stock classes, I forget which designation it was, because it could outhandle and perform cars costing up to 3 times as much, or at least be a drivers race. I am going by memory of course as the Neon being the car to beat for many years in SCCA and one other race class.

all i have to say to the OP is that in the racing community those who have been around for decades know that Dodge always puts out some form of competitive FWD compact car. In the 80s it was the Omni/Horizon, in the 90s the 1st gen Neon and for the 00s they brought forth the 2nd gen neon which spawned the SRT4....
facts speak louder than words, now comparing a WRC Subaru WRX Sti to SCCA Pro Rally SRT4 isnt quite apples to apples as the FIA has very different specifications/regulations than the SCCA. Not to mention a Pro Rally SRT4 would set you back almost an 8th of what a WRC preppred Sti would

Exactly, and to the person above, I have seen the 1st Gen Neons terrorize the above mentioned Acura RSX-R. You will need to go to clubrASSx to find people who will agree with you that there is 'no way' a neon can outperform the RSX, because there were a bunch that could, and did, on the circuit.

Um... wasn't one of the first SRT-4's out there getting good media attention the one the Mopar rally special? I know they had one that was kicking ass and taking names in rally for the first couple years it was out.
I've no doubt it wouldn't take much to get it to be competitive with an STi...

SRT-4 interiors are teh slow , but man I do miss my Neon!
Lets see your STi cost $21,000 or less brand new as long as we are comparing apples to oranges. I'm really sick of this crap, congrats you have a more expensive car that performs marginally better, go post about it on NASIOC or something. If you really need to post on here how much better a WRX is than a Neon then thats just sad.
