Angry I am a criminal?

Ok, I have had it with the police in Loudoun County here in northern Virginia. Two weeks ago, here in my hometown in Purcellville, I got nailed for a speeding ticket. It seems that although the street I was on has no driveways and is really vacant the town decided to drop the speed limit from 35 to 25. I got pulled over and was told I was doing 20 over. I said, "you mean 10 over, right?" Needless to say, I got ****ed. Oh yeah, by the way, the town had just implemented an extra $200 fine on top of whatever you get for the standard rip-off ticket. Now tonight I got pulled over on the other side of the County while returning home from community college. I didn't break any laws! "Exhibition Acceleration", gave me a warning and let me go, but the point is I know I am being harassed for having a sport compact. I know this because the family hotrod I drove with regularity a few years beck is a Buick Grand National, and I never got pulled over for this s***, despite the fact that the Buick was quicker, it is just because it is a Buick, not a "damn punk sport compact." On my way home after the warning, a drive of about 25 miles I saw 4 other people get pulled over. I am hopping mad at these damn cops! I am not a police hater...but I think I am on my way to becoming one! It is a good thing I am not black, or I am sure I would have gotten a ticket from these power-hungry goon squads in Crown Vic's. Don't they have any real crime to stop? Or is the motto now "to harass and annoy?"

Sorry if I posted in the wrong section. Perhaps this should be under the "general" general discussion forum. I posted here because it happened in my SRT-4.

Well, it seems the police force in your area is somewhat strict. The only thing you can do is conform. No matter what you think, they will do as they wish...although arguing and going to court works *sometimes* for the most part, abiding by the law is always best. This practice has seemed to work for me since I've been driving.

.02, with a grain of salt!

This exhibition acceleration thing is just really hard to abide by. Where do you cross the line at? What's next? Stopping too fast?

I got pulled over for laying wheel in my 03 after making a sharp left turn, I let the officer know I had an open differential & he let me go with a warning.

here in cali, its only illegal if you chirp a tire. you can launch as accelarate as fast as your little heart desires, as long as you dont make a sound

Is probably a way for them to get easy money. And they figure targeting people in sport compacts isn't going to offend most of the general public, and that is for one reason. There are a lot of accidents today involving the sport compact cars being driven by idiots. It's unfortunate, because it's the innocent drivers that wind up paying the price usually because of the actions of others. Also another reason why our insurance rates are higher for this car, besides it being considered a "high performance car."

yea it just seems wrong that the budget that gets written for the county includes money that they plan on making with tickets. If you track where the money goes, the beauracrats are using ticket money to fund various projects. I would be much happier paying higher taxes to pay for these projects than take the hit on my (otherwise) spotless driving record. Speed does not cause accidents, stupidity or bad conditions do. But they keep jiggering the statistics to try to prove the "Speed Causes Accidents" agenda. Did you know that if car "A" is speeding and car "B" runs a red light and hits car "A", it goes down in the NHTSA stat book as a "Speed Related Accident"?

[quote=Shifter] I am hopping mad at these damn cops! I am not a police hater...QUOTE]

Well now is a good time to start... I've been driving for 10 years and no tickets... bought the srt this summer and baam... 3 freaking tickets!!! I didn't change my driving habits... The best part was when I got a speeding ticket while i was beeing outrun both on the left and right. People were pissed at me because I was running slow so they were passing me both in the right and left lane. If it was up to me, these piggies would die in a slow and really painfull way... God... if you're listening to me... could you make them die painfully for me... I mean, lot's of people die for no good reason every day. Why not make a few death usefull...

wow tiny got some issues...lol?

i agree tho, i drove a 94 taurus sho for a year and a half and the only ticket i got was becuase i got CAUGHt speeding down a main road at night. I really was speeding so i just paid it and didnt think about it. Now that I have my SRT i have gotten 3 tickets in 6 months all three for bullshit reasons and no hard facts. I got 2 nulled and the third is going to quart next month. I fuckin hate cops too, ive onloy met a couple that have a good idea of what there job is. The rest of them are power hungry power tripping pigs who have nothin better to do with their time then bother a kid at 1:30 AT NIGHT driving 40 in a 30 on his way home from dropping his 2 drunk friends off so they dont drive, tell the fucker the story and he still wrote the ticket and slapped an exhaustg citation and a clear corner light citation on the list, went to court told the judge the same fucken story, and he wrote the whole thing off. i fuckin hate em 2
