I just wanted to know how you all got into cars and if you have ever bothered with motorcycles. Im only 15 and have been caught up with American Choppers and Motorcycle Mania and all that. I am amazed with how they are able to bring a design to reality. I have been drawing bikes for about a month or so. And my passion is in designing things. I want to know how to get started with all the mechanics concerning a bike so maybe one day i might be able to build one of my own. Thanks
from as far back as i can remember my father was into cars He is a porsche mechanic he has always had performance cars which I rode in all the time growing up . He is also is into bikes, we ride together still all the time ,he has a modded hyabusa and i have a gsxr 1000. His is faster.
My dad was into cars too, as he tells it, for three days he had the fastest car in San Luis Obispo, CA when he was younger. It was a 10 second torino. Then one of his friends fixed up his new GTO and beat him and that was the end of that. He had his stints with motorcycles too, one was turbo'd. Too many tickets and a couple bad accidents convinced him to end it with those. Then when I took auto in high school I caught the modding bug from some classmates and the rest is history. Funny thing is, my dad likes my SRT more than he ever did my old Ford. Thats my lame story.
Well my mom told me, when I was a kid about 2-3 I would sit in the engine compartment for hours watching my dad work on cars. I guess it started from a young age.

LOL, well I'm right with ya, man. I'd always been interested in cars, but that movie was what ignited the spark. Go ahead, flame us.
Here's hoping the WS Crew doesn't get wind of this thread...

when i was 13 i used to help my STEP dad work on ourv family vehicles at the time...94' Volvo 850 (US spec), 90' Tercel (Can. spec) and 87' 3 series (Ger. spec) when we lived in germany. Learned to do oil changes, brake jobs, clutch installs and many other procedures by helping out and eventually when i turned 16 i got the Tercel and drove the Volvo frequently as i did still work on both.
I really got into cars at the age of 11 when i lived in Dominican Republic, maily due to the fact that in our country there were very few newer cars so it fascinated me to know whats out there besides our early 80s hunk a junks. When i moved to Europe at age 12 i saw cars i would have never dreamed of seeing back on the island...Ferraris, Lamborginis, Renaults, Alfa Romeos, Audi , VW, Opel , Citroen...etc. Follow?

He was just hoping you'd get caught in the timing chain.
