The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get rich quick theory of life.

Caliber SRT-4 in the market with the new STi and Evo-X is laughable. SRT6 AWD Avenger better become more of a consideration. Only thing that Dodge has going for it right now is the SRT-8s and the forthcoming Challenger in terms of performance. If the Demon is released, I think it would be INCREDIBLY popular and profitable.

Because we Americans don't want a sweet turbo diesel that will last forever and get good mpg..... DUHHH!

Caliber being in competition with Evo/STi is really not the goal with that vehicle. Because even with AWD, its really not up to par - you're putting a new 4-door hatch up against rally-racing legends. It just wont sell well if it were on that market-base.
The Challenger & SRT-8 series is great, i'll agree with you there. I also think they're going to start focusing on the SRT-6's soon [Avenger/Sebring].However, they're in a different class than the STi & Evo. These are bigger than those vehicles & with bigger engines to compensate for weight.
I just hope DCx [or whatever it becomes] doesn't rely too heavily on those vehicles [Challenger/Chrysler halo vehicle], because right now milage is what people [mass market, not car enthusiasts] are looking for; so a small vehicle like the Chrysler Akino / Dodge Hornet would be a welcome sight comparing to the Yaris/Vitz/Aveo/Fit competition. At least now, they're focusing on interior styling/ergonomics/textures.
The Demon was only designed as a DESIGN EXHIBITION, its was never planned for production. But then again - niether was the Hornet, if i remember correctly Personally, the only thing i like about the Demon is the interior, the rest looks too .. half-assed -- like 2 dif. concepts shoved together

i think its more because of emissions control - some states [read: CALIFORNIA] are too harsh on the diesel engines & do not see anything good out of them [thanks to C.A.R.B]. So they're pretty much trying to make that type of engine obsolete here.
end of April DCX will be no more. Benz and Chrysler will still share some things, ie sprinter, but other than that they will be separated. It wont be a Chinese company or GM either, private firm. the Pentastar will be back as the main symbol of Chrysler, and all 4 brands, Mopar, jeep, dodge, chrysler, will remain intact.
heard it from the grapevine.

Couldn't be said better suzq. If you're looking for an STI or an EVO, go ahead and dump $30k+ on one and stop bitching.
