I started re-reading this thread at page 1 because I saw a Jeep Compass with the Rallye package at a dealership and went "WTF?!", because I remember when there was a good-sized group of us anticipating a Jeep Compass Rallye-based SRT.
As a recap, take a look and see what we were hearing was in the pipe back when Hemi opened this thread. Now remember, as stated below this is not an "official" list, but one put together by insiders and industry experts at the time.
There are some very sad and noticible MIAs on this list today.
Jeep Compass. Quick, what's the difference between the Jeep Compass, the Jeep Liberty, and the Jeep Patriot? The bosses at Chrysler, which owns Jeep, could explain, but the real answer is that Chrysler has oversaturated its strongest brand lineup in a desperate attempt to boost sales. "The Compass is not needed," says James Bell of Intellichoice.com. "Just the Liberty, please." The Compass has the same mechanical underpinnings as the Dodge Caliber, which helps illustrate one of Detroit's favorite tricks: Create multiple versions of every product under a bunch of different brand names, hoping that if buyers shun one, they'll take a more favorable view of another. Message to Detroit: Consumers aren't that stupid. Give them a bit more credit, and you might have a future.

Too bad they're using Goodyear Fortera HLs... what an absolutely horrible tire.

dude; seriously awesome interior and upscale function in this vehicle. I want to meet it in person now. Before, with just the pic, I wasn't sure; but after watching the video. Good Job ChryCo!
They're aiming at Land Rover.
Also, check out the Jeep-grille detail in the headlight; on the standard-lense.
I truly think it's a step in the right direction, much more modern looking interpretation of the jeep image. Plus, have you seen the interior?
<Insert image here of really nice looking interior, except allpar is down...>
I don't care about the interior. The exterior is so off-putting (for a Jeep) that I wouldn't get past that. Jeeps, to me, are supposed to be rugged and versatile looking. This thing looks like every other boulevard cruiser to me. I'd like it if it were a Ford, it's just not a Jeep IMO.
New York: Chrysler gives a sneak peak at next 300 interior by Chris Paukert on Apr 8th, 2009 at 11:28AM
During the Jeep Grand Cherokee press conference this morning, Chrysler vice chairman Jim Press gave the assembled journalists a sneak peak at the interior of the forthcoming Chrysler 300. While little more than a quick glimpse at of the instrument panel flashed up on the screen for a moment, we were able to grab this snapshot for you. We're sorry that the resolution is not as crisp as we'd like it to be, but until Auburn Hills slips us a high-res jpeg, we figure you'd still enjoy an advanced look.
What it shows is an all-new instrument panel of what looks to be a higher-end model (note the abundance of woodgrain trim and leather surfaces), with the centerpiece being a new widescreen navigation system housed in an oval-shaped enclosure flanked by curved air vents. As expected, there is a wood and chrome-ringed steering wheel, switchgear in the standard places (including dual-zone climate control), a gated console shifter, and what looks to be a very large center console.
The interior is markedly more conservative than what Chrysler teased with the 200C Concept from January's North American International Auto Show in Detroit, but admittedly, that concept was designed to give a future glimpse of the 300's kid brother, the Sebring). The 200C employed such show car details as a chrome single-spoke steering wheel, a screen in place of the main gauge binnacle, and a sophisticated all-in-one climate/stereo/nav unit that flowed out of a center console.
Despite that, the 300 "spy shot" looks to be a major leap forward in terms of unified style and potentially materials.
No definitive word yet on a date when the rest of the car will be revealed, so for now, 300 fans, you'll have to be content with this.
Rendered Speculation: 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 by Noah Joseph on Apr 13th, 2009 at 11:27AM
Our friends over at Jalopnik have what they claim is an official rendering of the next-generation 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. With the redesigned 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee already revealed under the brights lights of the New York Auto Show, it was only a matter of time before we received news of the high-performance version's fate.
Aside from big wheels, a ram air scoop, rear spoiler and some subtle ground effects, the new GC SRT8 looks fairly restrained from the outside, but inside reportedly lies a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 producing between 505 and 525 horsepower and somewhere around 510 lb-ft of torque. The vehicle's all-wheel-drive system will also reportedly be heavily revised to handle all that power, which should make this new SRT8 SUV faster than its predecessors and one of if not the fastest SUV of all time.
Being that Chrysler uses the same V8 in most SRT8 products, expect this one to find its way under the hood of the Challenger SRT8 and Charger SRT8, as well. You might be asking why Chrysler continues to keep the lights on in the SRT offices, especially after GM scuttled its High Performance Vehicles Operation. While the cash to make new SRT vehicles could certainly be used for other things, we applaud the Auburn Hills-based automaker's decision to further fund its high performance department. If anything, it shows there are men and women in the company who still passionate about building things other than minivans and Wranglers.
UPDATE: We contacted Chrysler to confirm this rendering is indeed official and were told, "Definitely not ours." So consider the image and information above speculation until harder evidence surfaces.
