You really don't need to bump this thread, a lot of people have subscribed to it, and also come here to post new information.

I'd sticky it, but people tend to ignore stickied threads.

So, as Chrysler LLC moves into this partnership, what are the models from Fiat that are peaking your interest? I have spent a little time this morning researching some of their vehicles. This one is kind of interesting:

Fiat Grande Punto

Exterior it has a mix of a GTI and Ford Focus... The interior is kind of bland, I don't care for the color of white on dark grey, as it makes it look like it's 'floating' out ahead of the rest of the dash, but the car itself is intriguing.

It is hard to navigate some of the pages that talk about the car, I've had to ctrl/alt/del several times on these crappy euro autoblog websites due to nasty spyware causing errors, but from what I can see they have a diesel version that gets 42 combined mpg and (hard to believe) 72 mpg on the highway?

I don't know what all Fiat has to do to meet our federal regulations to bring their cars here but this really could do a lot for Dodge if they work out a deal to rebadge some of these cars. Not having a single 30mpg vehicle is really hurting Dodge/Chrysler LLC right now (and PUHLEASE, don't give me that 'but the Caliber', even with the CVT tranny it doesn't reliably give 30mpg and honestly Dodge needs something that has 40mpg) so the addition of several smaller motor cars, even if they are made by Fiat, might not be a bad idea at all.

The above car with the current Caliber SRT-4 motor in it would be absolutely ridiculous fast. The Punto weighs 2200 to 2300 in current form. Even with added weight to make it USA legal and the bigger motor and some drivetrain/suspension upgrades, this car would still be a rocket.

There are some other interesting vehicles too, I figure we should probably begin discussing some of them because if a lot of you are like me, you have NO idea what cars Fiat even has

***EDIT: Quick question, does anyone know if this partnership involves shared platforms or is this merely a way for Fiat to use Dodge's dealership network to bring its vehicles to the USA?

Grand Punto? Oh dear, I'm sure people will have a good laugh butchering that into Grand Puto on this side of the pond Still, that might just inject some humour into our interest in the car hobby. Not crazy about the 1984 GT-350 side stripes. But the rest of it looks decent.

How about this beauty?

This is the Fiat Qubo Anteriore, a five passenger vehicle and can be equipped with different engines like 1.3 Multijet diesel or 1.4 liter gasoline engine with 73 PS. The gearbox is either a 5 speed manual or a 6 speed automatic.

.. it's not like they have all totally ugly cars - i just think they need some tweaking for the US market. For example - top one = Demon; second = new Caliber; 3rd one = a new EV? (even though that one had a v12); 4th one = new Sebring/Avenger.

Chrysler version to compete against Audi A3 / GTI (note 200C headlamps with larger grille)

SRT to reclaim its title against the fourthcoming revised 2010 MS3. 1.8T 230 hp ?

very italian interior a la Ferrari.

Fiat 500 Abarth.

Everything else bores the piss out of me. Including the Alfas. Well, the affordable ones anyways.

But yes; SRT needs to hit the ground running here; a lot of 'ole favorites are either coming back full force (2010 MS3), or rumoured to be coming (Focus ST). Give us a cheap turbo 4, and a mid-size turbo something. Please. Enough with the drought already. I want something fun to drive everyday again.
