If they sell off the Viper, they will need a new halo.
But I assume if the sell off the Viper, the V10 will go
along with the deal. So my guess is something else.
Forced induction V8 should be the new Halo Car. 600hp and 25mpg. Since fuel economy is the future of the vehicle industry right?

so...any real news on all these supposed mergers/purchases of chrysler? (excluding all of the info in the newspapers that are speculating, and have "sources"...
Hummer would be gone, to be replaced by Jeep.. or at least Jeep-looking vehicles.. There would be no need for Chrysler or Dodge from that point, they'd just use-up the technology & be rid of them both.

Hummer's going no matter what happens. Unless GM can find a way to re-brand it, it's gone for good. GM wouldn't be so stupid as to let the Chrysler and Dodge brands fade from existence. They have too much brand equity.
I think the only reason GM might keep Chrysler and Dodge in production for the time being is to prevent Toyota from claiming the #1 spot in annual US auto sales in the near future. In every other respect, keeping them alive indefinitely is only maintaining competition against the GM brand.
Cerberus, of course, is interested only in its return on investment. It couldn't care less about brand equity or tradition -- or jobs.

Unless Jeep goes away before the Chrysler/GM merger. I saw that Renault was looking into buying Jeep from Chrysler.
That would give Chrysler more cash. Which as far as I can tell, is the only thing GM wants them for. :-/

Seriously, what the hell is going to happen here? Will SRT merge with SS? Will there be a SRT-4 SS? Will it be pinstripes and a sunroof package with Tupperware interior? That's what I'm afraid of; the worst of both brands coming out.
