I saw a really nice looking Avenger at the 7-11 the other day when I was buying wine and beer.
It had a very nice custom paint job and some very fancy chrome wheels.
The paint was a very bright torquoise.
And it was complemented with silver American Club racing stripes.
I asked the middle aged, black lady driving it if it was a custom paint job.
She seemed suprised that an old red neck sporting a #4 buzz cut would even care.
But when I asked, all the sterio-typical barriers melted away and we were just two car fans chatting.
She confirmed it was a custom paint job.
I told her it looked awsome and we then went our seperate ways. I think the Avenger is a decent car and not to make an SRT version is another marketing mistake by Chrysler.
They could probably make some money with an SRT-6 version.
I wonder if they are listening?
They can't even move the SXT's, so surely an SRT model isn't worthwhile. Chrysler's just starting to work its way out of the crapper, and an SRT version of a product that doesn't sell (even in the high volume trim level) makes about as much sense as staring at the sun.

...And they axed it in '05. Anywho, sales weren't the problem with the Neon. The need for a "world" platform killed the Neon (and subsequently gave birth to the Caliber). The sales figures don't show any real dip in sales in the later years
One hit the lots today, and I grabbed a few grainy cameraphone shots.
Few things;
1. New taillamps.
2. New engine.
3. That's about it.
This was a decently equipped R/T, and with the exception of the SRT seats, the interior is what you will see in the rest of the flavors. The taillights are still flush, however the circles are recessed. The interior looks exectly like last years. And it still has a 5-speed tranny.
Personal opinion on the taillights; not diggin' 'em.
**edit** And I just noticed the "CHARGER" emblem is crooked. God that drives me nuts. So many manufacturers want us to believe their vehicles are all high tech and put together by awesome robots... and the damned badges are crooked. /rant

X2 those are not attractive at all.
That's probably just the fact that you took the shot really close to the vehicle. The lens of a camera doesn't "see" like our eyes do. It probably doesn't help that they're just camera phone pics too. I'm willing to bet that, in person, it looks straight.
