Sorry, don't like the fatty's. Reasonable weight would be 3800lbs or less although anything above 3700lbs would be too much if you ask me. If you're going for looks alone I guess that's cool, plus it should be a pretty rare car too. As far as performance goes, it's gonna be getting beat by cheaper Csrt-4s, MS3s, EVOs, STIs, Camaros (eventually), 135is, Mustangs, GTOs, etc.. ^^All those cars are lighter and have at least 4 seats.
I'm talking stock for stock, which cuts that list down a little, but see your point. I was also talking about the hopefully 500 HP 392 HEMI in a couple years, not the current engine.

Would it be nice to only weigh in at 3800lbs? Heck yes it would be, but it doesn't. However I think a lot of people are mistaken if they don't believe this car will be able to perform. It should only get better once the manual transmission gets put in the car in a year or so.

I'm just curious. Have you ever driven a 300C SRT8? Because I think you might feel differently about the whole weight thing after driving one.

Well, I live in the land of 14 second LS1s and 13 second GT-500s because of the altitude and temperature. This car will be just barely able to break 12s with 500hp (~425rwhp). I was able to run a 12.0 @ 120mph 2.0 60ft with a little over 500rwhp in a 3500lb car (with a good 60 it should be an 11.5 car).

well - if you're worried that much about the weight, buy pieces for the drag-challenger & put it on the body; that ought to lighten things up a bit, eh?

More news is coming about the SMALL TRUCK version from you know who....now that Jim Press mentioned it...lol

I can't see how it weighs more than 4000-lbs seeing it is only a two-door. This Challenger model can make the 0-60MPH in 4.9 seconds.
Here I thought the whole point of my post was that I came to the realization that the car is heavy and can't seem to figure out why no one else can? You're right I guess, we should have just settled for a four door car that weighed a lot and was a disgrace to the name that it carries. Oh that's right, your signature shows that you bought one of those... oops
that WASN'T the point of your post, and my purchase was made for practicality, you know what family sedans are made for, the challenger is a pony car, 2 doors, and is on a shortened frame, no doubt it is beautiful and a work of art, but Chrysler sure did miss a good weight target when the mustangs, camaros, and the rest of the competition will be a lot lighter, and thus get better gas mileage then 13mpg.. im glad they have the lightened version coming out

I agree, and logic would say that when you remove 4" from the LX platform, and use basically the same parts, that you would expect more than just 20lbs of weight savings. However on Dodge's website, they have the weight listed at 4140lbs. It certainly doesn't make sense. Maybe they are messing with everybody...lol.
By the way, Dodge's website has a bunch of pictures of the new Challenger as well as two cool short vidoes of the Challenger in action.
