Yeah, some not-so-bright people in Dodge marketing decided to issue a press release with the misleading price of $37,995 and at the same time list the REAL price of $40,095 on the Dodge site. Sheesh. One also has to wonder why they went $95 over the $40k mark, what a dumb move. "$39,999" would have been so much SMARTER marketing-wise.

$37,995 IS the "real price". $40,095 is the "real price" PLUS luxury tax.

I understand. But since the GG tax is a fixed amount and does not vary by state like sales tax, license etc., it should be included in any advertisements of the price. The GG tax is also listed on build sheets along with other options and features.
One of the issues here is that one price is listed in the press release, and another price on the website. If nothing else, those prices should be the same. Who are they trying to fool by promoting the lower amount of $37,995?

well, the manufacturer's price IS $37,995. the gas guzzler tax is a gov't charge. don't like the extra $$ - call your congressman.

That's not the point, I was saying that Dodge should have used one price or the other in their press release/web site and not two different prices. Didn't mention anything about the ridiculous and unfair GG tax.
No such luck. The Challenger SRT8 6-sp WILL have the GG tax.
If Chrysler grew a brain and put cylinder deactivation on their SRT models... like certain other manufacturers are doing... maybe there wouldn't be a GG tax.

I agree especially since they included the destination charges in the first place.
