I figured ZH was going to be Firepower or something similar -- a sports car, but not the super-halo... more something to replace Crossfire.
Your are correct. An corporate insider two weeks ago I had small conversation wants to ax the Crossfire and replace it with something along the revised Firepower design. Firepower is an opened program for revisit by the new regime. However, this is something that will be in the same neighborhood of the Vette C6 or C7 model line thus keeping the top super sport car opened that will surpass the Viper.

That's what I figured -- a lower-priced Hemi-powered Viper, done as a Chrysler and positioned against the base Vette. If it looks as good as Firepower, I'll buy one.
hemi/PVO - any news on my truck? .. curious to see where its at right now, and where it might show up
As far as the Jeep TK is concerned.. it looks really stubby for a pickup. You can have that same kind of room by folding forward the back seats in the JK unlimited [possibly less in the TK]; why buy the truck, if that's the case. IMO it needs to have more cargo room than a seatless JK unlimited..
The seat design for the rear are fold flats and the rear opens up like the Chevy and Honda to provide more space.
but the 'truck' doesnt have rear seats.. therefore -- less room for people.. and.. same amount of room for cargo [as the JK-unlimted with seats folded flat]. It needs to be LONGER. lol -- JMO tho.
I think if the design gets better; the sales will too. There is a market for the smaller trucks -- but the Colorado/Canyon are by far the best LOOKING out there. Dodge needs something like "my" design to pull people back into the truck-room. We can't have everything looking like a mini RAM.. I posted my chop on a few different forums. I got just about ALL positive results.. for example:

I want that DAK!

I want that Kota!

very nice! thats one sweet looking truck!

if they go with that I hate to say it but bye bye neon (if I have to)....I want that truck!

They just need better basic design; I think people want each vehicle in the line to have its own personality, not be a clone of every other vehicle in the lineup; like the present Ram/Dakota/Durango lines.. they look almost exactly the same. For example, if you put a tanneu cover on a Ram, it looks like a Durango.. or a mini-Durango if put on a Dakota. They share TOO MUCH. People like the Nitro because its different, and has attitude. Give the rest of the lineup something to make them individuals. As another example, the Avenger design looks like an afterthought to the Charger. Yes, people like the Charger; but I dont think they'd want wanna-be Chargers; If they wanted one, they'd probably get one. Give the Avenger a different look, its OWN personality, dont try and make every small car a mini version of a good-selling big car. That philosophy will FAIL. If you look at the designs that Dodge had in the mid to late 90s; every car had its own distinct personality; from the Stealth, to the Avenger to the Neon and Stratus. They all looked different; and had different visual personalities, but they were all very DODGE at the same time [with exception to the Stealth, because it was a 3GT with different trim, and wing]. GM is making the same mistake with Chevy -- I can't tell a Malibu from a Monte Carlo anymore; they all look like wanna-be imports. Honestly, I think Ford [as much as i hate it] has the most diverse-looking line of vehicles, while keeping the Ford branding strong.
Anywho - let there be distinctions in design between vehicles again, without over-emphasizing on the Dodge Crosshair grille. I dont want the next small-coupe/sedan to look like a charger. I like the full-size Charger, not the me-too design of the Avenger so much. It has a LOT of potential though; i love the front end of the Avenger; just the ass needs work. I say - get rid of the angled rear window and the Charger's quarter-bulge thing. I think people are looking for clean lines again; JMO. <k -- i'm done ranting now >
Steve, did you mean reversal = retro, as in back to the curves and forms that worked so well in the 1990s? I think THAT would be well-received.
George, I already took the return to curves in the design as a given. I was told this by someone most definitely in the know about a year ago - hence my misinterpretation of what Hemi was saying.

I think what you are going to find is that Suzy...Chrysler is already cutting back on platforms to reduce across-the-board manufacturing costs but now needs to push forward by adding that distinctiveness for each vehicle model. A good case is the 300 C vice the Charger.
There are other design consideration that didn't make pass the program lead with the Avenger. One of which I thought looked much better than the current hideous oversize lamps.

The Chevrolet HHR SS is officially unveiled today. Depending on traction and power band, it would be interesting to see how it stacks up to the new Caliber SRT4. Turbo 4, 260HP, 0.86g, but no other #'s posted.
