is the razor really making it to production? and if it is, what's up with the demon concept?

the Razor will NOT make production; was never intended as such. However - they're looking into the Demon's producability.

Response: S/C most likely will continue its life under the hood of the 2010 Dodge Hornet.Actually the Tritec will not meet upcoming Euro emission regulations and won’t be sold in any new car without major revisions. The only reason the Dodge Hornet had the tritec in it was because the entire car was built from a MINI. This is the first time I’ve ever mentioned this but I learned last year from a source that Dodge simply bought an MCS from a Detroit dealer and built the entire concept off of that car. Hence the tritec engine inside. Look for the final version to differ greatly from the prototype in both running gear and proportion.

Hmmm no wonder I liked the Hornet so much - it was the right size...

UPDATE JUNE 16th: The 2008 and 2009 6.1L engines will NOT feature MDS. While this feature is definitely under developement and testing, it is not expected on SRT engines until at least the 2010 model year.

It's more than talk -- as I heard it, it's a done deal unless the car completely flops. MY09 1/2 -- will be shown at the 09 NAIAS and out in the spring, one year after the coupe.

There does seem to be some question over whether you'll be able to get an SRT convertible, as you know...

Model 2010...thanks

Too many e-mails in the morning. There is no vert srt though. LOL

Sucks. Not like I have a snowball's chance in hell of owning one of those cars before 2010, but that would have been a nice bit of tech for Chrysler. Hopefully it stays on track.

If I had a 6.1l V8 with exhaust or cutouts running on 4 cyl I would be SO PISSED! I don't care if it was only at idle even. If I want to save a few bucks on gas I would buy a Caliber or something. It doesn't even get rid of the gas guzzler tax for Christs sake.

MDS for the SRT engines is still in the early stages of development. For some reason the engine coding for the 6.1 ("ESF") was inadvertently changed to include "MDS". This error made its way to some of the 2008 dealer code guides and other documents. As someone mentioned, it was even appearing on 2007 SRT8 model window stickers. 2010 models are the earliest that MDS could appear on the 6.x engines, it may even be beyond that.

This is something they need to put out. Now. No... scratch that. Yesterday.

if they bought volvo, what are the odds of it getting chopped up and becoming chryslerized? there is alot of safety and technology in the volvo. or would it go on top as a luxury brand?

I can certainly see Volvo's product portfolio conflicting the Chrysler's. I can see where this would benefit Volvo (better powerplants).
