I am very glad to see this to be honest. They have been way behind in the public eye regarding gas mileage and alternative fuel and they shouldn't be, it is time to offer this in a big way. We all know what the general public says on the street about Chrysler/Dodge products and gas mileage.
... well, when it happens; dont be suprised. But hybrids are more of a Hype-sell anyways. They dont really pay for themselves for years; unless you are in A LOT of stop/go traffic... new york city style.
Maybe a Crossfire as something NEW a shortened Viper chassis, or even the Demon/Caliber chasis; maybe even the Chrysler sibling to the Viper; just keeping the name, instead of Firepower!. I think keeping it on the Benz chassis is asking for trouble if you're trying to push individuality of the Chrysler group from Daimler.
IMO the Crossfire thing is either about finishing up some agreement with MB or about holding a place in the lineup for a successor model -- Firepower or whatever -- or maybe both.

Having driven a crossfire recently as a rental car, I have to say that I was fairly impressed. Underpowered, but overall a fun car to drive. I would be interested to see what chrysler could do to it with a new platform, but keeping the same basic premise.
