With the latest 6.4 [SRT8]? 6.1/5.7 expect to pay the same but getting one will require some down deposit and hope that your dealership is on the list.
What I was told and probally be corrected that there is first production run of 30K units. SRT8 are slated for 3000 copies.
The MSRP will be reflected cheaper than the Charger R/T but getting one is another dream. Baby boomer's are anticipating this car with a 10-15K premium with some expected down to hold that spot further the allocation to the vast dealership network. Hopefully I am wrong....

I LOL'ed at a dealership when "19,999.99 Dealer markup" was writen in sharpie on the price tag of a GT500.
I hope it doesn't happen to us. Especially with the Camaro out there, too.

It will... but just like with the GT500 and the first SRT-8s, it'll pass. Two years from now there will be something like 80k of these things out there in various stages of tune. We'll all have a chance.
Right now I'm thinking I'm going to buy a Magnum SRT-8 and wait to see what the Challenger convertible looks like rather than trying to buy a first-year Challenger coupe, but I haven't made up my mind yet.

Depending on who is talking on what came first is always nebulous.
Ford will claim the Mustang but in fact, two weeks prior to that the Dart was out.
I think you are referring to the Barracuda, Hemi. The Dart was introduced in 1960 as the low price line of Dodges, actually replacing the Coronet. The Lancer was the first A-body Dodge, It came along in 1961, when the A body was refreshed for 1963 in recieved the Dart name, but was by no means a "Muscle Car" IMHO the later Darts were still more pony car than Muscle car. The Muscle Dodges will always be the B bodies, Coronet and Charger. My Vote for the first Muscle car would be the 55 300 and / or the 56 lineup including the Chrysler 300/ Dodge D-500/ De Soto Adventurer/ Plymouth Fury. yeah I know old Mopar!

I'm doing something similar. I decided last December to pull the trigger and trade my SRT4 in on a Charger R/T to prepare myself for the Challenger. The Charger will be my daily driver for a long long time to come. By the time my Charger is paid off, even the SRT8 Challengers should be selling at or below sticker by then as well.
