It is not the Torque Steer was the main problem but the Torque Management software and few other 'lil' problems needed to be solved when under engineering road testing.
That makes a lot more sense. I just didn't ever remember the SRT engineers saying torque steer was an issue. I kind of figured that something popped up during durability testing. As far as the torque management software issues, perhaps they can buy a MazdaSpeed 3 and hack into their pcm for clues...lol.

the Avenger is just fine the way it is; if anything, the rear end needs help. Its plenty aggressive looking.
No kidding. I don't know how people back those things up without hitting anything. I could barely see out the back window. C pillar size is getting out of hand.

1) Several of the pillars have gotten too big on a lot of cars. What happened to wanting to be able to see out of the car? Did we stop caring back when people were stupid enough to put tint on their headlights?
2) 100,000 miles is just getting started. A car should still be under warranty at this point with another 100K before you even have to think about serious repairs or overhauls. IT CAN BE DONE!
I agree -- I hate the crossfire for that reason; I CANNOT SEE out the back of that damned thing. Tiny rear view + HUGE C-pillar = HUGE blind spot... same goes for the Pontiac G6 and its relatives... There's a lot of cars that apparently aren't made for people to see out anymore. The newer mustangs probably have that problem too; i will NOT buy a car i cant see out of; for example my dads old 9-3 convertible. it had NO roof ! and i still couldnt see out the back.
I think the main problem with the b-pillar is it is now due to framed doors, for less road noise. Not to mention the [depending on the make] side airbags. At least the Challenger *shouldnt* have that problem.
100,000 miles is plenty to notice something wrong; if it hasnt happened by 100k, it probably wont. Granted - my car is JUST hitting 150k right now and its almost 10 years old. I think that cars aren't built to last that long anymore... JMO tho.
Would you buy a 2008 Caliber SRT4 stripper for 19.995.00 dollars?
Yes. But I'll probably end up having to pay somewhere in the mid-$20s anyway... because I doubt there will be a dealer within 200 miles of me who will deign to order one of the strippers, no matter how heavily promoted it is.
I bet the average sticker price for these ends up being around $27k.
the SRT-4 caliber was @ SEMA last year; and it doesnt look half bad. I think they used it in a road rally too?
And i agree with georgejetson -- the dealers are one of the things that need to be 'fixed' with Chrysler right now. Most of them are money-grubbing bastards, and think that chrome-plated stock wheels & tint = 5,000$ charge... when I didnt ask for it in the first place. It just happens to be on the lot. I would rather go back to the old days where you could get OPTIONS not package-options. It sucks, because u cant order one thing without getting something else - and end up having to pay out the ass for it. I figure the Caliber will probably sell around 4k more than the r/t is now.
However -- on the dealer-surcharge 'side' -- it does stop some stupid buys; ie - kids buying it because they think its cool and fast & they can race it once they get it off the lot. And some parents will be disuaded from buying it for thier kids; despite how "practical" the car can be. Cause god - knows they dont sell the "Its a high-horsepower compact car" line to parents.
edit -- After the "teaser" in SCC; i'm sure there will be plenty of buyers -- i'm sure people said the same thing about the Neon SRT-4
I'm interested to see a third-party review of the SRT-4. I really want to see what the SRT-6 is bringing to the table though, or what the SRT-4 will look like a year or two into production.

More info is coming on the next Hybrid TD Diesels.
No, I wouldn't. I just don't like the design of this vehicle at all. It looks like a rounded off K car to me and the headlights are way to big. SRT did the best they could with it though.

The timing is perfect, Payments are ending on the ACR at the end of the year, I want to pick up a Caliber SRT 4 as the new DD and retire the ACR. So YES I will take a new SRT-4, but I'll probably add some if not all of the options.

As with any vehicle, I simply will not purchase a first-year model, so I'll be waiting for MY09. I am however, quite interested in picking one up to DD while keeping my Jeep.
