Sure building vehicles like that is one thing, but they need the quality and reasonable pricing to be competitive again. I'm glad they are taking a step in the right direction finally.

Their pricing has never been an issue and the quality actually HAS been there for at least 4-5 years now. Just nobody wants to admit it despite the numbers.
Ford isn't a horrible company outside the us. Hell, if you watch top gear... The mondeo gets huge raves, rated over the bmw 3 series from all of the hosts. Ford got so focused on trucks over here, they jacked up... If we could get some of the euro cars and get people to drive crappy looking eco cars during the day and whatever they want by night... it would be a lot better.
Wow the ford focus RS (AWD turbo version right?) Would be sick! Ford should have done that years ago!
Yes there are 3 new ford models coming over from Europe very soon!
2010 Ford Fiesta 56MPG
another mid size car that gets 41MPG
and a midsize suv that gets 37MPG.
Pretty impressive i have been saying for a while now Ford is going to pull out of this wayyyyyyyy before GM and Chrysler.
Oh yeah almost forgot to mention the Volvo inline5 turbo is a really mod friendly/strong engine. Putting it in other ford vehicles would be amazing to have fun with.
What i really want to see is the Ford Falcon from Australia. Its a manual RWD coupe with an inline 6 turbo motor option. Its pretty much fords version of the toyota supra. Look it up its badass! They race them there too!
Id invest in Ford stock if i were everyone its gonna sky rocket!

Most would agree that it is pretty certain the new RS will NOT be AWD, supposedly it has some type of new axles and drivetrain to make up for that.
The AWD Fusion might have been scrapped as its present form, but with the new model coming soon, it is thought the AWD SVT version will come back.. I mean SVT was supposed to be dead after the GT500 but now with the new off road SVT f-150, that was kept secret for a long time. I do not know what to expect

Here is some good news amongst all the glum headlines from the American automakers. As part of the company's One Ford strategy, Ford has appointed Jost Capito as Director of Global Performance Vehicles. Jost has had a hand in some of the killer European Fords like the 2009 Ford Focus RS pictured above. Under the new plan cars like the Focus RS will finally be available in the U.S.
The decision shows some evidence that Ford hasn't forgotten about performance amongst the flood of more fuel-efficient vehicles. Jost has been with Ford of Europe since October 2001. Over the course of his employment he has been responsible for motorsport and performance vehicle programs in Europe. Since November 2007 he has been Vehicle Line Director of Ford of Europe's Performance Vehicles and has led the development of the 2009 Ford Focus RS as well as the Fiesta ST and Focus ST performance models.
Jost will be moving to Dearborn, Michigan in January 2009 to work at Ford's World Headquarters. Managers of both Ford's North American Special Vehicle Team (SVT) and Ford of Europe's performance vehicle operations will report to Jost in his new role. He will also be responsible for Ford's global motorsport plans and programs.

It is still not expected to be an AWD FoFo (FOrd FOcus), as long as the NA focus will be on the current platform as Europe has, say they go to an different suspension or chassis all together, then maybe so, but all the news in the Focus community points to the new RS to be FF driven. With its great rear suspension, basically a bigger and better ST.
The news of RS and SVT teaming up is HUGE in the Focus community, which I am still a part of.
I would love for an ST/RS Feista or Focus that would be killer

Personally I lost faith in the zetec, duratec line because of the lack of quality ford builds into their motors, personally i think they have a "Make sure it breaks down" business model. Im swapping the 2.0 for a k20a honda motor, its worth th hassle to fab up brackets and do the wiring. Ive had so many things go wrong with those motors, and i babyed it.

I actaully had no problems, for nearly 100k miles and it was boosted, I now am replacing it with a 2.5l V6, in the focus I own.
Ford of Europe has yet to release the pricing on the new 2009 Ford Focus RS - heck they still have yet to release official performance figures like the 0 to 60 time and the top speed. But that’s not stopping Britons from running into Ford dealers to sign up and put down deposits.
According to AutoTelegraaf, 1,000 Ford Focus RS units have already been accounted for. 40 percent of the buyers have asked to get their Focus RS in the Electric Green shade that Ford showed at the 2008 London International Motor Show. Other colors will include Electric Blue and Frozen White.
Power for the new 2009 Ford Focus RS comes from a turbocharged version of the Duratec 2.5 liter 5-cylinder engine that produces 296-hp with a peak torque of 221 lb-ft. 0-60 mph is said to come in under 6 seconds.
