But I have always been told that in the break in period that the first oil change should be not with a full synthetic because it provides a too smooth of friction surface and the parts cannot be broken in properly. Maybe I was told wrong. Oh and I have an '04 and the owners manual recommends Mobil 1 10w-30
The oil in the car at delivery is NOT synthetic. Synthetic is recommended for "spirited " driving. 5W-30 or 10W-30 is determined by the temperatures in your area; i.e. 5W-30 for colder climates and 10W-30 for warmer. There is NO recommendation to use only one multi grade regardless of temperature.
They changed their minds about the oil I guess. Both were recommend when I bought mine, but the salesmen said that the 5w-30 was the more recent update.

i was told not to use full syn in the first oil change to let my car get broken in
learned the hard way years ago with another turbo car, NOT TO use synthetic until the engine has really broken in like 3-4k miles, the synthetics are TOO slick, they dont let the friction surfaces wear in right....1st oil change 5w30 dyno juice, 2nd and future changes full synth!

Make sure when you get an oil change that you get "100% synthetic" as there is a class-action lawsuit against major oil companies using non-synthetic oils and claiming they are full-synthetic. It has something to do with the terms used. 100% synthetic is not the same as full synthetic. They just use full synthetic additives. Watch that ass 'cause there's evil afoot. EVIL...EVIL!!!

That $50 is REDICULOUS!! I can buy a whole case of Mobil 1 Synpower for $28 bucks. Add the cost of the oil filter which I'm sure costs these large chains next to nothing and they are raping people.
I bet they get that oil for less than a dollar a quart or some sh*t like that.
Don't have SRT yet, only STratus R/T coupe. Soon though.....
I had mine done for the first time for that but plan on doing it myself from now on. Just didn't want to deal with the factory tightness of the oil filter. Saw a deal on mobil 1 oil filters on ebay for about 30 bucks. If i see it again on there i'll be sure to grab it. Went to a Terrible Herbst here in vegas and had to pay $50 for the change. Probably the last time too.
Well I have had a couple mechanics tell me that I should not use Synthetic oil in a turbo charged car for some reason? Are they jus complete retards? They said it was because regular oil turns into a lubricant when it breaks down but synthetic turns to ash? I dont believe it, but you never know.
