One of the car mags, C&D or R&T, I forget, and Edmund InsideLine had some tests of the 6-speed and auto. They're within like 1mph and a tenth in the quarter.

At the track last year there was one there that was running 13.5-13.7 and between 105-106mph in the few runs that I saw. Automatic of course.

I know a guy that has an orange chalenger SRT. Cooks headers, larger TB, Diablo tune, After market exhaust and something else that I cant remember off the top of my head. We never ran from a dig, but we met on the highway one day and from 55 mph I pulled away pretty hard and fast until he let off. It is one sweet looking car though.

Stock? I doubt it. I've yet to see any SRT-8 in real life or in magazines do better than a mid 13 second quarter. I highly doubt a 4k lb Challenger would be able to break into the 12s.

idk i still think for the money our cars are one of the best dont get me wrong the car looks sick but i just cant see getting smoked by a stock nsrt when you spend like 20 more gs for your car...

Come to the Mopar Eastern Classic, or hit MIR on any given Test and Tune. Thats where I first saw a 300C SRT-8 run a 12.8 bone stock. And heres a mag run a good chunk better than "mid 13s".

http://www.roadandtrack.com/assets/d...ac_chart-2.pdf

Now, does it happen often? Nope, requires a good driver, and great conditions, but certainly doable.

I cant believe they got 18.5 mpg observed while testing the car.

Thats a good 1/4 time for a magazine, but people dont understand the owners actually drive these cars everyday, the magazine tester's have the car for a weekend.

The best time is always going to come from the experienced OWNER, not the experienced TESTER.

My point exctly, if a mag can pull a 13.2, then its easy to see an owenr get in the 12s. As for 18.5, I can see it. I get 15-16mpg around town here, and 20-21 on the highway.

yah I believe it, just shocked that its able to get better mileage than the GXP. It would probably get close to 23-24+ hwy if it had a proper transmission, Variable Cam Timing and MDS. Which is saying a lot for the 6.1.

me (srt 4) and my buddy (o1 s4) were doing some driving on the 101 around malibu.. when we pulled on the side of an srt 8. we egged him on a little bit.. i gave him a wave he looked n laughed at me w/ his ol lady in the car he gave me "the" wave n he took off. he might have started first, but to his surprise that lil neon pulled nasty! the s4 got me by 1/2 a car and i put a good 3-4 cars on the challenger.

they arent as fast as the hype makes them to be. honestly i think the 300 & charger are faster.
clean? definitely. fast? maybe u should break it in first..

Well i got a chance to have some fun on the highway with one myself. Not sure if it was stick or auto but Ill say auto for his case. My car is basically stock with some minor mods and he (SRT8) had some trouble pulling on me. We went from around 55mph and I expected alot more. Also the car was super quiet too my suprise. Hell I heard my exhaust over his. I was not impressed with a 40k + car. They may look sweet but thats about it. Anyways I gave a wave to him and he gave one back. Least he wasnt a douchebag and was pretty cool about it.
